Apartment & Room Lukre

Apartment & Room Lukre is located inside a four-story building made of white stone with hunter green shutters. The hotel is outside the action of the Old Town, but within a short five-minute walk of Pile Gate. While other rentals in the area require climbing a lot of stairs, this property is set in a location that doesn't require many steps. A friendly couple runs the hotel, earning rave reviews from guests for their hospitality. The owners offer a variety of services for a fee including airport transfers, excursions to Montenegro, and tours of the nearby islands via a speedboat. The owners also provide directions and recommendations for guests wanting to explore on their own. Guests are mostly leisure travelers on a budget, many drawn by the self-catering kitchenette (and large furnished terrace) in the apartment. 

Apartment & Room Lukre is a short five-minute walk from Pile Gate, marking the entrance to Dubrovnik's Old Town, a scenic UNESCO World Heritage Site with preserved churches and fountains dating back to the 13th century. There are two beaches within a short walk as well as restaurants, a bakery, and a mini-market. The Mount Srdj Ropeway -- where guests can take a cable car to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views -- is within a 10-minute walk, but visitors warn to bring water for the walk, which can be hot, depending on the time of year. Dubrovnik Airport is less than a half hour drive away.

There are only two rooms at Apartment & Room Lukre. The small room has one bed and can accommodate two guests. The homey space has pretty, ocean views and simple decor with white walls, hard floors, and matching wood furnishings including a closet and desk with a compartment holding a mini-fridge. The larger apartment has two bedrooms, a dining table, and a small kitchenette with a stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, and cabinets stocked with cookware and serving ware. The apartment also has a large terrace furnished with a table and chairs where guests can eat alfresco and take in views of the Old Town. Both rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and shelves with books for guests to read. Bathrooms have small stall showers, but guests appreciate extra touches such as wine, beach towels, and chocolates as well as the air-conditioning. 

There aren’t a lot of amenities at Apartment & Room Lukre, but the owners earn good reviews for their hospitality. The hotel is also in a convenient spot just outside Old Town, with Pile Gate only five minutes away on foot. Laundry services are available as well as airport transfers (for a fee). There are a variety of tours guests can book with one of the owners to destinations including Peljesac peninsula (with wine and oyster tastings), Mostar, Konavle, and Montenegro as well as a speed boat tour of Elafiti Islands. Wi-Fi is free throughout. There is no breakfast served at this property.
