A beautifully restored Georgian House, Number 31 was designed by renowned modernist architect Sam Stephenson. The hotel is located between a park, residential neighborhood, and Dublin’s city center, where there’s a variety of restaurants and boutique shops. Consisting of two buildings, the main house and the coach house, the architecture is quite stunning.What used to be the coach house is now the hotel entrance. Inside there’s a sunken living room with a black leather sectional sofa, fireplace, and modern artwork. Outside there’s a serene courtyard area with a garden and staircase that leads to the historic main house. The upscale, boutique-style property features luxurious details and modernist decor, including brightly colored chairs, chandeliers, and bold pieces of contemporary art. Reasonably priced compared to other nearby properties, period-style guest rooms are upscale, with some having terraces that overlook the busy street below.

Number 31 is located several blocks from Saint Stephen’s Green, a lovely park in the heart of Dublin. Grafton Street, the area's main shopping district, is a 15-20 minute walk away, as are a few major tourist attractions, including the National Gallery, National Library, National Museum, and Trinity College. A popular local restaurant, The Sussex, is nearby as well.

Each of the 21 en-suite rooms at Number 31 are different sizes and prices with a unique look. (It’s important to note that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, so rooms located on the fourth floor can be a difficult climb for guests with special needs or lots of luggage.) Beds feature high quality linens and the decor maintains much of the original Georgian details, such as lovely cornices, mosaic floors, and other unique plaster work. The furnishings are classic and comfortable, though some could use a little sprucing up.** **Flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi are offered as well. Most bathrooms are modern and have rain showerheads.

A wide variety of seasonal fruit is available, including items like freshly picked berries and poached pears in vanilla syrup. “The Full Irish” breakfast is served daily, which includes bacon, sausage, eggs, and tomatoes, as well as smoked salmon, mushroom frittatas, and eggs Benedict -- all made to order. As is the case with most small boutique-style hotels, there’s no pool or other resort amenities. Parking is free.
