The 252-room luxury Oberoi is located in Business Bay, attracting primarily corporate travelers or tourists especially interested in taking the free shuttle to Dubai Mall. While the design is a bit generic, everything is high-end and well-maintained, from the lovely spa and large outdoor pool, to the 24-hour gym and 27th-floor lounge. The spacious, well-appointed rooms come with all the amenities expected of a luxury hotel, including sitting areas, Nespresso machines, stand-alone tubs and separate showers, and free Wi-Fi. Multiple on-site dining options, particularly the Indian restaurant Ananta, receive excellent reviews, and all rates include a varied breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, some guests have complained of noise reaching rooms and an awkward hotel entrance that causes traffic jams and doesn't allow for foot approaches. For a luxury stay closer to downtown, consider the similarly priced Taj Dubai.
Scene
Elegant hotel with top-notch service, but little character
Like other luxury hotels in Dubai, The Oberoi occupies a gleaming, modern high-rise building that doesn't make much of an impression from the street. Many guests have complained of an awkward entrance that can cause car jams, and pedestrians must enter through a difference door. Once inside, things pick up, however. A gleaming lobby features the same black, red, and gold decor as the rooms, found in striking chandeliers, seating areas, and a water feature. There's little in the way of character here, but the hotel receives consistent praise for top-notch amenities and service. As it's in the business district, guests are primarily corporate travelers or tourists looking to take advantage of the free daily shuttles to Dubai Mall.
Location
Located in Business Bay, a 10-minute drive to Dubai Mall and downtown
The Oberoi is located in the Business Bay area, a 10-minute drive from Downtown Dubai. The immediate area surrounding the hotel is not pedestrian-friendly, with busy roads and construction, and taking a taxi is the best option for travelers. A free shuttle is provided multiple times throughout the day to Dubai Mall, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is next to the mall. It's removed from other main tourist sights, such as Jumeirah Beach and Mall of the Emirates, which are both about a 15-minute drive away. The Business Bay Metro Station is about a 15-minute walk away. Dubai International Airport is 20 minutes away by taxi, depending on traffic.
Rooms
Generous-sized rooms with contemporary decor, lots of natural light, and striking bathrooms
The Oberoi's rooms and suites are incredibly spacious, and outfitted in a contemporary (if underwhelming) design with black, gold, and red accents. Expect beautiful wood floors, neutral walls with modern artwork, tan seating and headboards, and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of natural light. All rooms have sitting areas and desks, while suites add separate living spaces and dining tables, plus balconies with or without plunge pools in some. The Presidential Suite adds a kitchenettes. Views are of the pool, city, or the Burj Khalifa. Standard amenities are unsurprisingly top-notch, consisting of flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines and kettles, minibars, daily-replaced fresh fruit, and walk-in closets with safes. Swish marble bathrooms have stand-alone tubs and separate glass-walled showers, double sinks, bidets, magnifying mirrors, and hairdryers. Upscale toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, and digital scales are also provided.
Unfortunately, some guests have complained of noise from construction or dining outlets reaching rooms.
Features
Lovely pool, superb dining and drinking options, and full-service spa
Features at The Oberoi are expansive, and equally geared toward well-heeled business and leisure travelers. Dining options are excellent, with Ananta, an Indian eatery, receiving rave reviews. Italian and international options are also available, and all rates include a lavish breakfast buffet with some Indian fare at the Nine7One restaurant. The 27th-floor Iris is a late-night lounge, often featuring live music. Another lounge is in the lobby.
Despite the high corporate presence, wellness facilities are extensive here. A standout is the temperature-controlled, Olympic-sized outdoor pool set in a lovely space with lounge chairs and trees, though neighboring high-rise buildings can block the sun. A bar with comfy seating sits next to the pool. Inside on this floor is a full-service spa with eight treatment rooms and a steam room, but no sauna or hot tub. A spacious, 24-hour gym has a range of modern equipment and floor-to-ceiling windows that keep the space bright.
Nine meeting rooms are on the 26th floor and have lovely views of the skyline. There are also a 24-hour business center and a Grand Hall that can fit up to 450 people or be divided into smaller spaces. Property-wide Wi-Fi and parking are both free.
