The mid-range Pearl Marina Hotel Apartments is an affordable and contemporary property in the southernmost part of Dubai Marina. Attracting both business and leisure travelers, it's within walking distance of the beach, mall, and train station. The 85 apartment-style rooms are modern, albeit chain-like, and feature tables, kitchenettes or kitchens with stoves and microwaves, and desks. All rooms except Studios have washing machines. A small, kidney-shaped pool has loungers and lovely views of the water, plus there's a cafe serving breakfast, snacks, and beverages until early evening. A small fitness center has a handful of cardio machines and strength-training equipment, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. It might be worth it to compare prices with the comparable Jannah Marine Bay Suites. It's worth considering Roda Amwaj Suites, which is right by the beach and has more amenities.
Scene
Generic apartment-style hotel by the marina
The Pearl Marina is an apartment-style property that offers an affordable stay in the pricey Dubai Marina area. Although contemporary, the design throughout is generic, with lots of neutral tones, chain-like artwork, and run-of-the-mill furniture. Nevertheless, everything is well-maintained, and large windows around the property let in lots of light. Both long- and short-term travelers come here for the well-equipped apartments, but many have been disappointed by the small size of the outdoor pool and gym. The former, however, has lovely views of the marina. There are no kid-centric facilities here, though two-bedroom apartments provide a good amount of space for families to spread out. Despite its convenient location near the beach and shops, the hotel is quiet.
Location
At the south end of the marina, walking distance to supermarket, metro, and beach
The Pearl Marina is located on a quiet street at the southern end of the Dubai Marina. A large supermarket is across the road, so guests can conveniently stock their fridges. The beach is around a 15- to 20-minute walk away, as are the numerous adjacent shops and restaurants. More outlets are on the other side of the marina at Dubai Marina mall, also about a 20-minute stroll. For farther transport, both Dubai Marina Mall and Jumeirah Lakes Tower metro stations are within walking distance. Mall of the Emirates is a 20-minute taxi ride, while Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai are 25 minutes away. Dubai International Airport is a 35-minute drive.
Rooms
Contemporary apartment-style units with fully equipped kitchens
Studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments are all done in a similar contemporary, albeit generic, style. Expect neutral tones in the beige tile floors and walls, dark-wood furniture, and white or beige linens. Chain artwork, pale-green accent walls behind beds, and patterned rugs add some decoration. Studios have kitchenettes with microwave ovens, mini-fridges, two-burner stoves, toasters, kettles, and all necessary cookware, plus dining tables with chairs for two people. Apartments, meanwhile, have four-person dining sets and kitchens with full-size appliances and washing machines. Standard amenities consist of flat-screen TVs, desks, air-conditioning, wardrobes with electronic safes and ironing facilities, bathrobes, and slippers. Apartments add separate living areas with couches. White-tiled bathrooms have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and free toiletries. Narrow balconies don't have chairs.
Features
Small outdoor pool and gym, and a cafe
The Pearl Marina doesn't have a ton of features, but a highlight is the outdoor kidney-shaped pool overlooking the marina. A whirlpool is off to the side and there are sunbeds and umbrellas. Although small, the pool never seems to be crowded. Also on the compact size is the fitness center, which has just a handful of cardio machines, an all-in-one weight machine, and free weights. A cafe with a wall of windows is open from breakfast until early evening (7 p.m. during our stay). It serves a decent breakfast buffet, snacks, and sandwiches.Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and free parking is available in an underground garage.
