Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel

With extensive meeting space, spacious desks and comfy chairs in every room, a bright fitness center, and severals restaurants and bars, the Park Regis Kris Kin is mostly geared toward the business traveler. Nevertheless, there is also a wide array of amenities and conveniences for the leisure traveler, including a rooftop pool with stunning views, a wellness area (though no full spa), and a location within walking distance not only of the financial areas but also of the Metro, eclectic dining, and great shopping. The lobby is a long, narrow space with gleaming marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and wood wall paneling. The space is flanked by the Metro restaurant on one side, and a busy lounge on the other. Off the lobby, and adjacent to the elevators is the Grandstand, a casual sports bar serving a varied beer menu. Decor is elegant if a little generic, with neutral colors and lots of mirrored surfaces (without being tacky). This contemporary style extends to the rooms, which are upscale and elegant yet somewhat plain. 

The hotel is centrally located in Bur Dubai, the city’s historic area. This part of town, known for its eclectic dining options, offers easy access to attractions, the airport, and the beachfront. This locale is particularly convenient for business travelers, as it is within walking distance of the financial areas of Dubai. There are two metro station a few blocks away, which makes moving around town easy, cheap and fast. The block of Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Street on which the hotel is located is pretty nondescript, but it is just a short walk from renowned Burjuman Center shopping mall. The airport is just a few miles away -- just note that there can be heavy traffic during rush hour.

The hotel has 390 large, bright rooms, all featuring expansive city views and solid amenities, including minibars, interactive flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and universal power sockets. Decor is similar in all of them, with contemporary wooden furniture, huge upholstered headboards, red bed throws, and a variety of earth tones. They’re a little chain-like, but feel elegant nonetheless. Some higher category rooms have somewhat more inspired decor, with a different color palette and a couple of extra touches. All room types feature similar amenities, the only difference being the floor they’re on, and hence the views. Superior Rooms are located on floors one to 10, and Deluxe Rooms on floors 11 to 16. Suites are located on floors 16 to 18, and feature the best views. Additionally, these units offer a variety of extras, including free breakfast buffet, free evening drinks and hors d’oeuvres, access to the Executive Lounge, free airport transfers, and turndown service. Bathrooms are fairly spacious in all room types, with separate tubs and glass-enclosed showers.

The hotel offers a wide array of business-oriented amenities, including extensive meeting space, comprehensive secretarial services, and a staffed business center. The fitness center is bright and pleasant, with wooden floors, up-to-date machines, and instructors. There are a whirlpool, a sauna and a steam bath that guests can use free of charge -- but the hotel lacks a full spa. For the best views, guests can head to the rooftop area, complete with a pool and loungers. Those looking to eat in may want to try Kris Restaurant, located on the 19th floor and offering tasty Asian cuisine with expansive city views. There are two other restaurants, including an international one serving buffet for breakfast and lunch and a la carte for dinner, and a sports bar. Marhaba is the lounge located in the main lobby area, offering snacks, small bites, and coffee.
