Bottom Line

Situated at the southern end of the Dubai Marina Complex, this three-and-a-half-pearl property offers practical rooms and some lovely spots for viewing the water and marina. The hotel is walkable to the beach and a metro station, but it’s also far from downtown Dubai. The contemporary apartments are well-appointed with full kitchens, washing machines, and large beds. Amenities like the pool and gym are small, and the breakfast buffet variety at the pricey on-site restaurant is disappointing. Some features, like the lovely spa treatments, free Wi-Fi, and parking are useful. This is a good option for families or long-term guests, but younger guests and couples may prefer the bars and on-site disco at the sleeker Marina Byblos Hotel.

Scene

Striking property with somewhat dated interiors and incredible water views

Although its circular structure is distinctive, with carpeting and upholstery in several common areas that looks a bit dated but nice overall. Music constantly playing throughout the corridors can disrupt the otherwise quiet surroundings, but a peaceful outdoor terrace overlooking the waterway provides a lovely spot to relax. Business travelers might find the hotel inconveniently placed. The apartment-style setup and decent rates attract international tourists -- especially families and long-term guests.

Location

On the edge of the marina and walkable to the beach

The hotel’s location is one of its bigger perks as it's adjacent to the waterway and has a walkway out front for people to enjoy scenic strolls. It's at the southern end of the marina, which isn’t as close to shops and restaurants as other hotels located more centrally in the district, but the beach and a metro stop are still within 15 minutes away on foot. A nearby supermarket is also useful. Guests looking to explore beyond the marina may feel inconvenienced, as it’s a good 20 minutes away by car, or an hour away by public transport, from attractions like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Mosque, and Jumeirah Beach. Dubai International Airport is a 30 minute-drive away. The hotel arranges transfers for extra fees.

Rooms

Spacious apartments include full kitchen facilities, washing machines, and free Wi-Fi

Apartments are available with one or two bedrooms, or as studios. They’re decently sized and clean, but mostly unexciting where decor is concerned. Velvet bed skirts, pillows, and drapes add texture, but walls are mostly bare. Two-bedroom apartments are bright, but upholstery still looks dated and coffee tables, cabinets, and shelves still look generic. Rooms are well-appointed, particularly for long-term stays. Amenities include air-conditioning, 34-inch flat-screen TVs, DVD players, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Additional TVs are provided in the bedrooms. Fully-equipped kitchens have microwaves, dishwashers, stoves and ovens, refrigerators, and cookware. Apartments also have washing machines, ironing equipment, and tea-and coffee-making facilities. Dressing tables and dining tables are provided.Bathrooms could use some new tiles, as some are old or chipped. Shower/tub combos with handheld showerheads are provided, along with toiletries, vanity mirrors, and hairdryers. Some rooms have lovely views of the marina, while others simply overlook other buildings in the area. Ground floor apartments have seating outside their windows.

Features

Great outdoor dining and decks, but subpar breakfast

The hotel’s Aura restaurant has cheery orange and cream decor inside, plus outdoor seating overlooking the impressive skyline right next to the docks. Food can be overpriced, and though guests have the option of including breakfast buffets in their rates, guests report that the spread is mediocre at best. Room service is available. The outdoor pool deck, like the restaurant, provides great panoramas of the surrounding skyscrapers and marina. The pool itself is small and is occasionally out of order. The Lotus Spa is small and rather dated-looking, but treatments are high quality and reasonably priced. A sauna and steam room is included. A tiny gym is crammed with equipment. There is a boardroom available for small meetings, and a business center with a computer for more casual internet use. Wi-Fi throughout the property is free, as is on-site parking.
