Scene
Housed in an iconic 72-story, two-tower building with ample amenities
JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is the previous record holder as the tallest hotel in the world. The two 72-floor iconic towers are clearly noticeable along the Dubai Creek thanks to the lack of surrounding skyscrapers. Once inside, the gleaming lobby can feel overwhelming. Several different desks surround the exterior; including the transfer desk, bell desk, concierge, and restaurant reservations. The reception desks are way at the back of the hotel. The majority of the features, including meeting and event space, the main restaurants, spa, and fitness center are housed within the central building connecting the two towers -- and the swimming pool is up on the rooftop. The rooms are accessed via separate elevators in the two towers. Decor is kept modern and elegant with little color and mostly dark hues. As it's in the business district, guests are primarily corporate travelers or tourists looking to take advantage of the free daily shuttles to Dubai Mall.
Location
Located in Business Bay alongside the Dubai Water Canal, a 10-minute drive to Dubai Mall
JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is located within the Business Bay area, directly beside the new Dubai Water Canal extension. Besides walking along the canal, the immediate area is not pedestrian-friendly, there's lots of construction and little within walking distance. A free shuttle is provided throughout the day to Dubai Mall, which takes about 10 minutes. The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, is next to the mall along with the Dubai Opera and Dubai Fountains. Both the Dubai International Financial Centre and World Trade Centre are 15-minute drives from the hotel. Mall of the Emirates is a 20-minute drive from the hotel and JBR Beach is 30 minutes by car, depending on traffic. The 15-minute walk to the Business Bay Metro Station is not pedestrian-friendly, so the six-minute drive is recommended. The Dubai International Airport is just over 15 minutes by car or a 40-minute ride on the metro.
