Bottom Line
The 389-room Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach is one of Dubai's older upscale chain hotels and is set in the heart of the popular Jumeirah Beach Residence. It's one of the most affordable beachfront luxury hotels in Dubai, and standout facilities include a first-class Italian restaurant, large swimming pool with swim-up bar, and pristine white-sand beach with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rooms with furnished balconies are pleasant if a little generic, and nearby construction certainly spoils the view from many. There is also a pesky fee for Wi-Fi. Vacationing couples should find more than enough here to keep them happy. Although there is a kids club and game room for teens at the Hilton, families with young children might consider the nearby Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, which has two children's pools, including one with a waterslide.

Upscale chain hotel set in terraced gardens overlooking the beach
Dating back to 1999, the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach is one of the more well-seasoned hotels in the area, though its striking curved glass and balconied facade stands up pretty well in the face of some much newer arrivals. However the lobby's grandeur -- with its swathes of polished granite, huge centerpiece chandelier, and slightly gloomy atmosphere -- feels rather faded and has started to show its age. A raised walkway bridge connects to the adjacent Hilton Dubai The Walk property, while flagstone paths meander through well-tended tropical gardens and landscaped terraces dotted with palm trees down towards the hotel's white-sand beach. While its setting has made it particularly popular with vacationing couples, a large nearby construction site is an eyesore and will create a lot of noise until its completion.
Location
Right on popular promenade in center of Jumeirah Beach Residence
Set in the heart of Dubai's particularly pleasant Jumeirah Beach Residence, the hotel's location is a real draw. The hotel is positioned between the beach and the strip known as "The Walk" -- a very popular promenade of cafes and restaurants along a road of slowly moving tourist traffic. The location is a little away from many of the main tourists attractions -- the Burj Khalifa (world's tallest building) for example is at least a 25-minute drive away. This also means that Dubai International Airport is relatively far away, at around a 35-minute drive with good traffic.
Rooms
Pleasant rooms with small furnished balconies with sea views -- though also of building site
Rooms at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach are a pleasant though fairly chain-like blend of patterned drapes, modern striped carpet, and functional furnishings with a touch of the Art Deco. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and bathrobes; there is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi. Most of the rooms -- over 75 percent -- extend to a small balcony with sea views, though this also often means overlooking the neighboring construction.
Features
Fine Italian restaurant, huge outdoor pool, white-sand beach, and spa
The hotel offers an excellent selection of eating and drinking options, including one of the best known Italian restaurants in Dubai -- BiCE Restaurant. The 10th-floor BiCE Sky Bar serves drinks to live piano music and superb views, while the H20 poolside bar has an extensive range of cocktails and a swim-up bar area. There is a pleasant beach and terrace area, though sun loungers feel rather packed together, and ongoing construction to the promenade might disturb guests' relaxation. The hotel's spa offers a good range of massage treatments as well as separate male and female steam baths and saunas. There's also a kids' club and game room for teens, as well as babysitting services. There is a fee to access Wi-Fi.
