Scene

Busy but clean with modern, but generic, lime green decor that's typical of Citymax properties

Bur Dubai has the same look and feel of other hotels within the Citymax Hotels chain. Matching lime
green light panels, armchairs, and standing vases provide much of the color in the contemporary lobby, but the overall busy ambience and generic feel means that it's not a common hangout area for guests. Most visitors stay in their rooms or congregate at the rooftop pool (which can get crowded) when not out discovering the city. The property attracts both tourists and business travelers, though it doesn't have much to offer couples or family vacationers.

Location

Between Old and New Dubai, a15-minute walk from closest metro station

The Citymax Bur Dubai is on a busy main road, next to another hotel. The residential neighborhood lacks tourist attractions and commerce, and isn't the prettiest place to take evening strolls. However, it's close to Old Dubai, which has many
cheap places to eat, and has more of a down-to-earth atmosphere than that of
glamorous New Dubai. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the Al Karama Metro Station 2 and the BurJuman
Station (both on the Red Line) as well as the Al Fahidi Metro Station 2 (on the Green Line). Burj Khalifa, one of the
tallest buildings in the world with 360-degree views of Dubai, is four stops away from the Al Karama Metro Station 2. The Dubai Museum, which traces Dubai’s history from desert land to megacity and Dubai Creek both take around 25-minutes to reach on foot. Business Bay and downtown Dubai are around a 45-minute
metro ride away on the Red Line. The Dubai International Airport is a 20-minute drive.

Rooms

Functional but generic rooms, some with street noise and others with views of Dubai high-rises

In typical Citymax fashion, rooms have green
striped curtains and matching bed runners. All come with mini-fridges, wall-mounted
flat-screen TVs, work desks, and coffeemakers. There is also free Wi-Fi,
which even some luxury hotels do not offer. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos and mounted soap dispensers rather than miniature bars of soap. Only one room type is available -- Standard -- which comes with one double bed or two twins. The property is on a busy main road, and guests in lower-level rooms may hear traffic noise. Higher-level rooms have better views and are much quieter, although bathroom fans can add a bit of unwanted sound to the spaces.

Features

Two formal restaurants and a casual all-day dining cafe plus gym and heated outdoor pool

Unlike
most chain hotels in the area, this Citymax has multiple restaurants on-site along with 24-hour room service. Claypot specializes in
traditional Indian cuisine, while Sizzling Wok serves pan-Asian fare. Both are open for lunch and dinner.
City Cafe offers all-day dining, and various salads, curries, and local specialties
in a buffet setup. On the rooftop is the heated outdoor pool, where guests can
swim laps or relax on the many lounge chairs. There is also a small fitness
center with modern cardio and weight equipment. On-site parking and Wi-Fi are both free.
