Bottom Line

With over 1,000 rooms, the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel is a huge, modern chain property that offers a convenient location for exploring downtown Phoenix. It's within walking distance to several museums, sports venues, and many dining and shopping options. There are great amenities here, including a lap pool and deck with city views, a fitness center, and a modern restaurant and bar. There are daily fees for parking and Wi-Fi, but SPG rewards members have access to free Wi-Fi. The hotel doesn't offer much for families (the pool is small), but it's a popular pick for business travelers.

Scene

Modern chain hotel with soft mood lighting

This Sheraton is aimed at business travelers and tourists who want an upscale experience in downtown Phoenix. The hotel's lobby is huge and features impressive works of art such as copper-covered walls, massive stylish chandeliers, and wood facades. The restaurants and bar are also modern and chic with nice mood lighting. An upscale atmosphere is present throughout the hotel. It is very bright with large floor-to-ceiling windows. The fourth-floor outdoor deck is a trendy and chic area with a long, but narrow pool that extends the width of the deck. Overall the atmosphere is polished, but with over 1,000 rooms, this is not an intimate, quiet place to stay.

Location

Within a 10-minute walking radius of the Phoenix Convention Center, Light Rail, and restaurants

The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel has a convenient location for both leisure and business travelers -- many attractions in downtown Phoenix are within walking distance. Note that this is a busy area, especially during the daytime. While the traffic dies down at night, it is well-lit and feels safe at all times. Many large buildings surround the

property, and the Arizona Center, which is a shopping center with shops, restaurants, and a movie theater, is just across the street. Cartel Coffee Lab and One Coffee Co are the most recommended spots for quick breakfasts and good coffee, and both are near the Phoenix Convention Center. There are plenty of other dining venues for lunch and dinner, like MOIRA Sushi Bar & Kitchen and Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana, within walking distance. Traveling within Phoenix is also an easy task with the light rail -- three streets west of the hotel is

Rooms

Spacious, simple rooms with city views; free Wi-Fi is not included (unless you're a SPG rewards member)

Rooms are spacious and a bit generic in style with mini-fridges, safes, built-in armoires, work areas, plush armchairs, and comfortable beds.  Carpets, curtains, and armchairs have different but complementing patterns; beds have leather headboards; and bathrooms have white marble countertops, shower/tub combos, and nice white porcelain tiled walls. The larger suites have separate spaces and extra seating, which can be convenient for business guests or larger groups.

Features

Outdoor pool with sundeck, business and fitness centers, restaurant, and shipping center

On the hotel’s fourth floor, an outdoor patio deck runs the length of the entire building. Besides the lap pool, the deck has a sit-down/lounge area for casual sunbathing and relaxing. Around the corner is the outdoor herb garden where the chefs downstairs gather herbs with which to prepare the meals at the hotel's restaurant. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and serves contemporary American dishes. For working professionals, the Sheraton has a small business center, a FedEx office, meeting rooms, and a Sheraton club lounge. It also has a fitness center with Life Fitness anaerobic and aerobic machines.
