Bottom Line

Residencial Casa Linda is a mid-range vacation home community where privately owned villas can be rented by vacationers. Decor and in-room amenities vary, but all villas have fully equipped kitchens, private pools, and patio areas. It’s an ideal place for families or large groups, as some villas can accommodate up to 12 people. Residencial Casa Linda is in a secluded area that’s a bit hard to find from the main road. There’s nothing within walking distance, but the hotel offers a free shuttle to and from downtown Sosua and Cabarete. There is no on-site restaurant or fitness center, but the property added a communal pool and tennis courts in 2016.

Scene

A quiet vacation home community

Because Residencial Casa Linda is a community of privately owned vacation homes, it doesn’t have much of a typical hotel scene. There’s a reception building where guests check in, but not much else. With few communal amenities, the place stays relatively quiet, especially since the property has noise restrictions for the early morning and late night hours. Each section of Casa Linda is highly secure, and there seems to be an armed guard around every turn.

Location

On a secluded hill in Sosua

Residencial Casa Linda is located on a secluded hilltop in Sosua. Although downtown Sosua is known for sex tourism, guests won’t find that sort of activity at Casa Linda. Because of its hilltop location, many villas have awesome sea views, but the beach, downtown bars and restaurants, and even the nearest grocery store are all too far to be within walking distance. A car is definitely needed if guests do not want to rely on taxis, or the hotel’s free shuttle service, in order to get around. Casa Linda is about an eight-minute drive from downtown Sosua, 11 minutes from downtown Cabarete, and about 17 minutes from Gregorio Luperon International Airport.

Rooms

Vilas with multiple bedrooms and varying decor

As previously mentioned, each of the villas at Residencial Casa Linda is privately owned, so decor and in-room amenities can vary. Casa Linda’s website makes a distinction between villa types with the categories Budget, Premium, and Superior. Budget Villas tend be older and less luxurious, with linoleum floors, simple rattan furniture, and dated kitchens. Superior Villas are usually newer and typically feature indoor and outdoor kitchens, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and marble bathrooms. Premium Villas fall somewhere in the middle. Naturally, prices increase from one category to the next. The smallest villas have two bedrooms and can accommodate up to four adults, while the largest villas have six bedrooms and can accommodate up to 12 adults. Potential guests should note that in many villas with more than four bedrooms, most of the bedrooms are located outside of the main house, with their own private entrances. This could be appealing to groups of couples traveling together who might like a little privacy, but a bit of annoyance or safety concern for families traveling with young children.

Features

Few communal features on-site

There really aren’t many communal features at Residencial Casa Linda, but an outdoor pool and tennis courts were added in 2016. There is still no on-site restaurant, however. Each villa is equipped with multiple parking spaces, a fully stocked kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and a private pool and patio area. Bathrooms are also outfitted with toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion), and there is daily maid service. Casa Linda has a free shuttle that runs between downtown Sosua and downtown Cabarete. For an extra fee, guests who don’t feel like putting their kitchens to use can hire a private chef to cook one, two, or all three meals throughout their stay.
