BlueBay Grand Punta Cana

BlueBay Grand Punta Cana is a contemporary resort property that attracts couples and families alike with its all-inclusive options and direct beach access. The lobby is housed in a high-ceilinged space with lots of windows, and there are lots of wicker chairs and coffee tables for guests to lounge. Rooms are spread across multiple low-rise white buildings flanked by manicured grass and palm trees, and a huge lagoon pool sits at the center. Guests generally spend their days on a lounger by the pool or on the sandy stretch of beach. There's not a ton of activity here, making it a better option for travelers seeking a laid-back getaway. 

BlueBay Grand Punta Cana is situated right on the beach in Cabeza de Toro, a small fishing village about a 15-minute drive from the Punta Cana International Airport, an hour from La Romana International Airport, and about two and a half hours from Las Americas International Airport. The area features a handful of other hotels along with cafes and restaurants, and there are a few small supermarkets within a 10-minute walk away. The Laguna Bavaro Wildlife Refuge takes around 20 minutes to reach on foot (or five minutes by car).

This property offers a variety of spacious suites, from entry-level Junior Suites, which measure around 40 square meters (420 square feet) clear up to Three Bedroom Family Suites that measure 170 square meters (1,830 square feet). Decor across categories is simple and contemporary, consisting of cream-colored tile floors, muted olive accent walls and matching throw cushions, low-lying furniture with neutral-tone upholstery, and soft lighting. Rooms have either floor-to-ceiling windows (in Junior Suites) or sliding glass doors (in higher categories) that lead to terraces, some with whirlpool tubs.

Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite cable, free Wi-Fi, and individually controlled air-conditioning. All units feature, at a minimum, small wet bars with coffee- and tea-making facilities, mini-fridges stocked with treats (free for guests on the hotel's Royal Blue dining plan), and microwaves. Family Luxury Suites have separate living areas and two or three bedrooms, as well as kitchens with stainless steel appliances plus washing machines and dryers. Bathrooms feature walk-in rainfall showers and a good set of amenities, including toiletries, scales, robes, slippers, and hairdryers.

This property offers all sorts of features for vacationers of all ages. There's a huge outdoor lagoon pool with a beach-style entry on one end. It's surrounded by lounge chairs and cabanas, with plenty more lounge chairs lining the local beach, at the edge of the property. Non-motorized water sports and beach towels are provided. 

For families, there's a kids' club and babysitting can be arranged on request. For adults, Namaste Spa and Wellness Center offers various treatments along with free daily yoga classes, a beauty parlor, and a 24-hour fitness center with Life Fitness cardio and strength-training equipment. There's also a jogging trail right on the property. On-site entertainment for kids and adults is provided, but some past guests have complained that the resort is quiet, without a lot to do. 

This resort also offers three on-site restaurants. All three meals are offered at La Caracola Restaurant, with buffet service and show cooking. There's also the a la carte Blue Wave Restaurant and Grill, which serves food and drinks right on the beach, as well as Sur la Mer Restaurant, serving Mediterranean fare in the evenings. Room service is also available around the clock. There's also a bar attached to Sur la Mar along with a smoothie spot, Zumbar, and a sleek lobby bar, On the Rocks, which features occasional piano performances. All-inclusive options are available, and guests can always opt out and then add it on later. The all-inclusive package covers all meals and some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Other properties include concierge services, a tour desk for booking off-site activities in the area, and event space for destination weddings and meetings. Wi-Fi is free and reliable throughout the hotel. Airport transfers and shuttles to area shopping are available at extra costs.
