SunConnect Djerba Aqua Resort

The mid-range SunConnect Djerba Aqua Resort sits right on the beach, with grounds full of pretty green lawns dotted by palm trees and tropical plants that pop against the hotel's cream-colored architecture. Interiors are clean-lined and contemporary, with a faint ocean-inspired palette and subtle Moorish touches such as pretty lanterns. Neutral tones dominate in much of the property, notably in the lobby, though some areas are lively with color, and the Moorish Cafe is full of traditional striped textiles, candy-cane striped columns and ceiling, and paintings on the walls. Signs of wear and tear are visible throughout the property though, and some areas, particularly the dated rooms, are due for an update. Guests here are mainly families, primarily from France, and the resort does a great job catering to kids. Note that most activities and entertainment are in French.

The hotel sits on sprawling grounds in the Midoun area of Djerba, with direct access to a sandy stretch of shore. The area is home to several other hotels and resorts, and there are some shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Djerba Golf Club is right by the property, about a three-minute drive or 15-minute walk from door to door. Other nearby attractions include the Djerba Explore Park (a seven-minute drive away), Crocodile Farm (an eight-minute drive), and Lalla Hadria Museum (also an eight-minute drive). Djerba's center is a 25-minute drive away, while L'île aux Flamants Roses (Pink Flamingo Island) is a 30-minute drive. Djerba International Airport is around 35 minutes by car from the hotel. 

This property offers a rage of room categories, all with simple, dated decor consisting of cream-colored tile floors and gray accent walls. Pops of gold and either red or green appear in bedspreads, accent pillows, curtains, chair upholstery, and painted closet doors. Wrought-iron bed frames add elegance, as do Moorish-inspired mirrors shaped like arched doorways, but overall the rooms show signs of wear and are in need of an update. All rooms open onto private balconies or terraces that overlook the grounds or beach and come furnished with plastic tables and chairs. Amenities across categories include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Suites have living areas, while two-bedroom apartments have living rooms, kitchenettes, and dining areas. Bathrooms come with marble vanities, shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and basic toiletries.

Facilities are what stand out the most at this resort, as there's plenty for guests of all ages and a dedicated animation team that leads daily activities ranging from water polo to Scrabble tournaments (typically in French). For younger guests, there are a kids' club, a kiddy pool, and a teen lounge (for those ages 12 to 16) with computers and an XBox. 

The hotel is connected to a beach lined with palapa-shaded loungers, where guests can engage in activities such as beach volleyball, kayaking, windsurfing, and paddle-boarding. There are also two outdoor pools lined with lounge chairs: a large main pool that plays host to activities such as water aerobics, and a second pool with waterslides for kids. There's also a water park with a wave pool, a lazy river, and several slides. The thalassotherapy center offers various treatments, an indoor pool, and Turkish bath. While there's no gym, the hotel does have several sports courts, such as soccer, basketball, tennis, and petanque. 

Other amenities include a shop selling souvenirs and sundries and meeting and event rooms for rent. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.

The hotel's main restaurant, Dar El Hana, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet style, serving largely average food. There's a second restaurant that offers a la carte local cuisine. There are four bars, including a lobby bar and beach bar, as well as a Moorish cafe with hookah, tea, and sweets. 

All-inclusive rates are available, covering all meals at the buffet restaurant, one dinner per stay at the a la carte eatery, water, soft drinks, snacks, and local alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, and liquor) from 9 a.m. until midnight.
