The 139-room Quality Inn & Suites Denver Stapleton was completely renovated in 2018. The newly refurbished rooms in this mid-range property are spacious and pleasantly decorated, though bathrooms can be cramped. The few highlights include the in-room whirlpool bathtubs located in some of the suites, a fitness center on-site and a free breakfast buffet. The property is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Denver, however, so it might not suit guests without a car. Travelers should also consider the Best Western Denver Southwest, which offers slightly smaller rates and has a heated outdoor pool and hot tub that are open year-round.
Scene
Newly renovated chain hotel, but decor is a bit bland
The Quality Inn & Suites Denver Stapleton occupies a long, four-story building on a busy major road in a neighborhood of strip malls. Formerly part of the Best Western chain, the property has been completely renovated and features fresh and clean interiors, if bland and typically chain-like. The lobby is awash in neutral hues with beiges, creams, dusty pinks, and slate grays composing the tasteful color palette, while contemporary couches and armchairs providing seating and area rugs and green plants add a homey touch. Most of the guests staying here are families or couples visiting Denver as leisure travelers, though the downtown area is about a 20-minute drive away, so a car is recommended.
Location
Located on a major thoroughfare outside downtown Denver
The hotel is located northeast of Denver’s downtown area, which is about a 20-minute drive away. Situated on a busy major road, the surrounding area is home to several other hotels, shopping centers, and restaurants. The Denver Airport is about a half-hour drive from here.
Rooms
Newly renovated and spacious rooms
Rooms are spacious and decorated in a simple, classical style, which is pleasant and not overdone with an earthy brown and beige color scheme. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, microwaves, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and an iron and ironing board. Bathrooms can be cramped, while shower/tub combos are not full size. The Jacuzzi Suite features a whirlpool bathtub in the bedroom, as well as a full-size refrigerator and a spacious walk-in shower in the bathroom. The King Business Suite has a separate living room connected to the bedroom via double doors. Some guests have complained that traffic noise can be a problem in the rooms facing the roadway.
Features
Free buffet breakfast and fitness center
The free hot breakfast buffet served in the breakfast room gets good reviews for variety, but the breakfast room can get crowded at peak times. A small 24-hour convenience store and gift shop sells snacks and souvenirs available around the clock, and a coffee corner offers free hot beverages in the lobby area. The fitness center is open 24-hours, but has only a few cardio and weight machines. The business center features two computers and a printer for guests’ use, and there is also coin laundry. On-site parking is available at no extra charge, but the number of spots is limited and doesn’t seem to be sufficient for all guests.
