Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, the budget Motel 6 Denver Thornton is a clean, modern option for ultra-basic lodging in a run-down part of north Denver. The inside has been updated with brightly colored paint and new beds in all the rooms, and there's a seasonal outdoor pool. The north Denver neighborhood is not the greatest, but other
areas are easily accessed by car from Interstate 25, which runs directly next
to the hotel. There is no breakfast included and Wi-Fi access is subject to a
small daily fee, but parking is free.
Scene
Basic two-story motel with updated decor
Frequented primarily by construction and oil workers, this
hotel has no lounge area or restaurant, but there is free coffee each morning in the recently renovated lobby: a bright and basic space that looks like a car rental office, with some vending machines, bright orange accent paint, and gray tile floors. Landscaping outside consists of a patchy lawn and newly planted trees near a brick planter. Compared to most motels in the Motel 6 chain, this one is notably modern and clean.
Location
Ugly Thornton location right off of highway
Located right next to Interstate 25 near the 84th
Ave exit in north Denver’s Thornton area, the motel is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Denver without traffic, but traffic can get heavy. A Village Inn and Santiago’s
Mexican restaurant are within a five-minute walk of the hotel, giving some basic dining options in an otherwise unattractive and run-down area. Denver
International Airport is just more than 30 minutes from the hotel by car. Boulder is less than 30 minutes in the opposite direction, and Fort Collins is
less than an hour due north.
Rooms
Simple, but modern and recently updated
Although they are small and simple, the rooms here are modern and
bright, with freshly painted orange accent walls and new flat-screen TVs embedded in the
walls. A small table and a couple of chairs are in every room. The vanity is separated from the bathroom, for extra space. Showers are narrow, stylized stalls with a slight submarine feel. The rooms are compact, basic, and clean, and feel similar to those on a
cruise ship. There are no coffee machines, shampoo or conditioner, or ironing
facilities, and Wi-Fi is only available for a fee.
Features
Free parking and outdoor pool, no breakfast or restaurant
There is no restaurant or bar but free coffee is available in the lobby
every morning. Free parking is also available, and an outdoor pool is open in the warmer months. Wi-Fi is available for a small daily
fee, and pets are welcome for an extra fee. There are soda and snack vending
machines and a coin-operated washer and dryer.
