Sharing a 12-story building with the Hilton's Homewood Suites, this four-pearl, 120-room Hampton Inn is in a prime
downtown location, within a block of the Convention Center and 16th
Street Mall. Catering to both business and leisure travelers, the hotel has an indoor pool, gym, full bar, plenty of meeting spaces, and a 24-hour business center. Plus Wi-Fi and a hot buffet breakfast are included in the room rate. The large rooms and suites come equipped
with mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs. Travelers could compare amenities with the slightly less-expensive attached Homewood Suites, but note it's designed more for long-term guests and large groups.
Scene
Modern and airy spaces with vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light
The hotel is housed in a 12-story building, with common areas shared with the adjoining Homewood
Suites. The ground floor, composed almost entirely of glass walls and windows with vaulted ceilings, shiny white tile floors, and huge white cube light fixtures, is
blindingly bright. Upon entering, guests will find a colorful mural
that resembles an abstract crayon drawing filling two interior walls, a lounge area, and several dark veneered tables and chairs. The 550 Bar & Patio is equally airy and colorful, with vaulted ceilings, a long, silver bar
lined with small turquoise chairs, a low booth lined with chairs and tables, and, as its name implies, a small, enclosed patio area -- it's a good place to grab a quick
lunch or casual dinner, or to sample creative cocktails or one of the locally brewed beers.
Location
Location one block from the Convention Center and 16th Street Mall
This Hampton Inn has a convenient downtown location, within a three-minute walk of the Convention Center and 16th Street Mall -- a pedestrian zone full of stores, restaurants, and bars -- and a 10-minute walk to several of downtown's hottest bars and restaurants, the Paramount Theater, and the University of Colorado's Denver campus. Denver International Airport is a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Modern, executive-style rooms
The 120 guest rooms are large, modern, and pleasant, albeit uniform with a neutral palette of tan and gray walls and striped carpeting. Mattresses are
high-quality and comfortable, and all rooms come with 42-inch flat-screen TVs, free high-speed Wi-Fi, safes, irons and ironing boards,
mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and microwaves. The striped carpets and large desks with
rolling office chairs give the rooms an executive look. But small, narrow windows allow for little natural light. Suites are larger, with bigger desks that separate the sleeping and living areas, which include large sofa beds and
sinks. Bathrooms are sleek and spacious, with attractive black granite countertops and black-framed mirrors, shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries.
Features
Free hot buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, pool, and gym
The Hampton Inn & Suites Denver Downtown comes with plenty of freebies,
including a hot buffet breakfast and high-speed Wi-Fi. It also has an indoor pool, hot tub,
and large fitness center equipped with an array of cardio and weight-training machines; nicely decorated meeting, banquet, and presentation rooms with high-tech equipment; and a 24-hour business center with computer stations. The 550 Bar & Patio, which holds two daily happy hours, is a lovely spot to try a creative cocktail or a locally brewed beer, or grab a light lunch or casual dinner. Room service is available throughout the day and evening. The
hotel also has a coin-operated laundry, and free coffee, tea, and apples are available at all times in the lobby. Be aware that parking is valet-only, and can be expensive.
