The Baymont Inn & Suites Denver International Airport offers attractive rates and modern facilities, situated among a cluster of similar limited-service hotels near the airport. The two-and-a-half-pearl property opened in 2010, and features an indoor pool and fitness center, and ample freebies including a hot buffet breakfast, 24-hour round-trip airport shuttle, and Wi-Fi throughout. Its 128 guest rooms are spacious and pleasant with contemporary decor and colorful accents, and all have flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers, but unlike most other hotels in the area, microwaves and mini-fridges don't come as standard. The nearby Ramada Denver International Airport has comparable rates, free breakfast, and spacious guest rooms equipped with sleeper sofas, microwaves, mini-fridges, and surprisingly attractive marble bathrooms.
Scene
A modern airport hotel with a small but cheerful lobby
This airport hotel opened in 2010, and it remains fresh and modern throughout. The lobby's seating area is comfortable and colorfully decorated with a series of bright-orange drum pendants hanging from the ceiling, and there's a small seating area with contemporary furniture facing a marble-framed gas fireplace. A large, vintage-style clock face set on a cabinet along with free coffee and tea in canisters adds to the homey ambience. There's also a nook off to the side with two computers and a printer, a handy spot for checking email or printing boarding passes. It’s a relaxing enough place, but guests are on the move traveling to and from the airport, and don't tend to linger here very long. The hotel is relatively quiet, but the breakfast room is on the small side for a 128-room property, and it can get crowded during peak times.
Location
Among a cluster of hotels near the airport, a 10-minute ride away
The Baymont is located on Tower Road, about a 10-minute drive or hotel shuttle ride from Denver International Airport. There's a school behind the property and an open field, and two full-service restaurants are about a five-minute walk away from the hotel. There’s also a gas station and liquor store in the immediate area. Downtown Denver is roughly a 30- to 45-minute drive, depending on traffic. A light rail station that runs into downtown is only a few minutes’ drive away as well.
Rooms
Colorful and spacious, with flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers
The cheery decor found in the hotel's public spaces carries through to guest rooms. Similar bright colors are used, such as aqua-blue accent walls and bright gold bed throws, and there's attractive carpeting with thick brown and silver stripes. Wooden furniture has a warm amber finish, and includes headboards and desks with office chairs. Framed artistic photos of nature scenes is nice touch and makes spaces feel pulled together. The King room we saw (Doubles are also available) was exceptionally spacious, with an armchair and a roomy, tan granite vanity placed across from the bathroom. Given the spaciousness and pleasant ambiance, it was disappointing that our room did not come equipped with a microwave or mini-fridge, which don't come as standard. All units have flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi, plus hairdryers and toiletries. Suites add separate seating areas, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Bathrooms are far less attractive and they're on the small side, with budget-looking acrylic shower/tub combos. Rooms are relatively quiet, although some ambient room-to-room noise can be heard at times. Views are mostly unremarkable, but some have views of distant mountain peaks.
Features
Free hot breakfast, 24-hour airport shuttle, pool, and fitness center, plus free Wi-Fi
This Baymont’s amenities include two very popular freebies—a 24-hour round-trip airport shuttle, and a hot breakfast buffet. The spread comes with eggs, make-your-own waffles, and bacon or sausage. Guests on the go can pick up fruit and muffins before they leave, and there's also free coffee and tea available in the lobby 24/7. The heated indoor pool is another highlight, as it's a decent size and housed in a nice space with lots of windows and colorful tile. There's also a small fitness center with three pieces of cardio equipment—a treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bicycle. Other amenities include two computers and a printer in the lobby, meeting space for up to 40 people, a guest laundry room with two washer/dryers, and valet dry cleaning and laundry service. On-site parking is free while guests are staying at the hotel, and park-and-fly packages are available for exceptionally reasonable rates. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
