Located away from town center
The Hotel Du Golf Barriere is a grand, upscale property which provides a peaceful golfing oasis away from the bustle of central Deauville. The ocean is visible from the golf course and from many of the hotel's 178 spacious rooms, as well as from one of the two on-site restaurants. The property also has tennis courts and a heated outdoor pool, but there's little else to do in the immediate area. Rates are comparable at the more luxurious Normandy Barriere, the hotel's sister property in the town center, so if golfing isn't your thing, you're better off booking there.
Scene
Grand, traditionally styled property with sleek, spacious interiors
The Hotel Du Golf Barriere is one of the three grand, upscale properties owned by the Barriere Group in Deauville, and its main draw is the extensive golf course that surrounds it. The hotel itself is built in Normandy's traditional semi-timbered style of architecture and has a columned entrance adorned with colorful flowers and potted shrubbery. Visitors are met by two black horse statues, the motif of the hotel, in a sleek and spacious lobby area, which is tastefully styled in muted contemporary and metallic tones. Wide hallways and stairways are finished in the same palette. The atmosphere is peaceful and laid back, and a modern country-club vibe attracts predominately golfing guests keen to escape to the green.
Location
Set in the middle of a golf course, a 10-minute drive to the beach
The hotel is located right in the the middle of a golf course. The sea can be seen in the distance from many points throughout the property, and the beach is about a 10-minute drive away, as is Deauville's town center. The Trouville-Deauville train station is also 10 minutes away by car and the Saint-Gatien Airport, which offers flights to London's City Airport, is a 15-minute drive away. Paris and its airports take just over two hours to reach by car.
Rooms
Spacious rooms overlooking the golf course, some with ocean views in the distance
The hotel has 178 rooms that have either cozy, rustic decor with brightly colored fabrics or more modern styling with contemporary furnishings and muted tones. Rooms are spacious and overlook the golf course, and some have distant sea views. In-room amenities include minibars, Wi-Fi (for a fee) and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, while bathrooms include robes, slippers, and high-quality toiletries. Renovated bathrooms are nicely finished in gray slate with sleek, contemporary fixtures.
Features
Beautifully landscaped 27-hole golf course with sea views
The hotel's main attraction is its beautifully landscaped golf course, which features a total of 27 holes and views of the sea. There are also two restaurants, Le Lassey, serving locally inspired cooking overlooking Deauville and the seafront, and the club house restaurant, which caters to golfers. The club house also has a bar with a cozy fireplace, and there's a second Scottish-themed Green Bar on-site. A heated outdoor pool is surrounded by a tidy lawn and lounge chairs, and the property is also home to three tennis courts, a sauna, and a fitness room. Bikes can be borrowed free of charge and there's a colorful playroom to drop off the kids.
