Hyatt Regency Boston

The Hyatt Regency Boston is a huge,
high-rise hotel with interior hallways to rooms built around four-story atriums. The hotel completed extensive renovations in June 2015, and the stylish decor is in a sophisticated palette of purple,
gray, and silver. The look is more modern than many may expect from a long-established chain outpost. The lobby offers plenty of
spots for quiet conversation, as well as the convenience of a grab-and-go
coffee shop, a convenience store, and a comfortable bar scene. The hotel draws a lot of business travelers, especially during the week, and we saw plenty of people on laptops or having business meetings during our visit. Guests will find the Hyatt a comfortable, sophisticated place to
stay, with lots of thoughtful business amenities, and no unwelcome surprises.
Service and atmosphere are what is expected at a Hyatt Regency in a major city,
without feeling cookie-cutter or generic. The hotel allows pets for a fee, and there's even an adorable resident Boston Terrier.

The Hyatt Regency Boston sits in the city's theater district, a five-minute walk from the restaurants, shopping, and T station in Downtown Crossing. The neighborhood is filled with high-rise office buildings and is quiet (but not desolate) at night. Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, and the Freedom Trail are about 15 minutes away on foot. The financial district, Newbury Street, and South Station are all about 10 minutes' walk. Boston Common is within five minutes' walk. Fenway Park is a 10-minute drive or 20 minutes away by rail. Logan Airport is a 10- to 15-minute drive.

Rooms at the Hyatt Regency Boston are big,
clean, and contemporary, with king- or queen-size beds and pillow-top mattresses. All have sleek decor in subdued shades of brown and taupe; expect leather headboards, built-in nightstands, upholstered armchairs, and attractive wall-to-wall carpeting. Bathrooms are clean and modern with lots of counter space, large lighted mirrors, and shower/tub combos. Free toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Some have interesting sliding barn-style doors. Guest should be aware that most rooms have limited closet space. Rooms have laptop safes and free Wi-Fi, though premium-speed Wi-Fi costs extra.

Business travelers will likely appreciate the quality soundproofing; we could only hear minor noise from the corridor during our visit, so guests won’t be kept up by noisy neighbors or crazy downtown traffic. There are tables instead of traditional work desks, to make business travelers feel more at home, and there are lots of convenient electric outlets. Coffeemakers and mini-fridges are provided. The serenity makes using the iPod docks and flat-screen HDTVs with pay movies all the more enjoyable.

The hotel offers a wide choice of room types, all the way up to the enormous, fully decked out VIP Suite complete with wet bar, dressing area, and views of the historic Boston State House. Business Plan rooms include free breakfast and Wall Street Journal delivery.

The Hyatt Regency Boston features a casual
chic farm-to-table restaurant, Avenue One, with a menu dedicated to local
sustainable cuisine highlighting New England flavors. Avenue One serves
breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with pre-theater specials, and a dedicated kids' menu. The Avenue One Lounge is a sleek, striking bar, with a stylish purple and
gray color palette, where guests can grab a quick bite or park in one of the
fashionable high-backed chairs and linger over a drink. Avenue One Express is
the Hyatt’s coffee shop, open for breakfast and lunch, serving sandwiches, paninis, and coffee.

There is a 24-hour fitness center with lots of equipment:
both cardio and weight machines, as well as exercise balls, free weights, medicine
balls, and amenities that include lockers, cold towels, and a sauna. In-room massage and other spa services are available upon request. The Hyatt’s Run Boston
program sponsors morning three-mile runs at various times during the week, and
provides running and walking maps to guests. Once a week, the hotel offers free
yoga and TRX strength-training classes.

There is a lobby gift shop stocked with souvenirs and
convenience store items. The Hyatt’s business amenities include a 24-hour
business center, and meeting and event spaces that include 21 meeting rooms, two boardrooms, and a Grand Ballroom with a terrace. Wedding and event-planning services are available.
