Bottom Line

The Daytona Beach Regency is an 87-room, mid-range hotel located on the beach within walking distance of several restaurants, and a relatively short drive from popular attractions. Rooms are generically decorated and apartment-style, with full kitchens, separate bedrooms, and balconies -- some with stunning views. There are bars poolside and on the beach, as well as indoor and outdoor pools with barbecue grills. There is a resort fee, which includes free Wi-Fi, as well as access to all on-site amenities. Housekeeping is an extra fee. The spacious rooms and beachfront location mean rates are more than double those at nearby Hilton Daytona Beach Resort Ocean Walk Village and The Plaza Resort & Spa

Scene

Family-friendly timeshare property in the heart of Daytona Beach

Located directly on the beach, Daytona Beach Regency is an 11-story sand-colored timeshare property lined with nicely kept tropical gardens and palm trees. The lobby is located on the first floor and is a large room with a somewhat corporate air, decorated with dark tiled walls, white tiled floors, and several blue arm chairs. Located in the lobby are the check-in desk and the small business center offering two computers and free Wi-Fi. Outside is the outdoor pool with a large blue slide, adjacent hot tub, and a large deck with three barbecue grills and plenty of white plastic and blue-cushioned lounge chairs for sunbathing. The poolside bar and restaurant and a volleyball court are also available for guest use.

Location

Located on the beach, walking distance from restaurants

The hotel is located in the heart of Daytona and directly on the beach. Although the main attraction here is the ocean, there are plenty of things to do in the immediate area. Within a few minutes' walk are a diner and a couple of pizza places, as well as the Ocean Walk Shoppes and the Daytona Beach Bandshell. There's a bowling alley about five minutes' drive away, and a grocery store is a two-minute drive away. Popular tourist attraction, the Daytona International Speedway, is about 15 minutes away by car, and Lighthouse Point Park is about a half-hour away.

Rooms

Generic apartment-style rooms, some with stunning views

The best views are on the beach side of the hotel, so while all rooms have a terrace or balcony, only those facing the beach have great views -- others can face walls. Options include one- and two-bedroom apartments, and one-bedroom suites. All rooms are quite spacious and feel more like condos than hotel rooms, offering flat-screen TVs with DVD players, queen-size and sofa beds, and full kitchens equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers. The decor is somewhat generic -- tile floors, blue area rugs, and blue-patterned accents -- but the accommodations do provide all the comforts of home. Bathrooms are basic with pale yellow walls and tile floors, and have either walk-in showers or separate showers and full bathtubs. Rooms are cleaned prior to check-in, but housekeeping during a stay is not provided unless requested at the front desk. Some rooms are also in need of minor repairs.

Features

Two pools, a poolside bar and restaurant, and beach access

The best feature of the resort is the beach, located 100 feet from the hotel. There are also several family-friendly amenities on-site, including two pools and two hot tubs (indoors and outdoors), a barbecue area, a volleyball court, and a game room with billiards and arcade-style games. Next to the outdoor pool is the resort’s poolside Island Breeze Tiki Bar and restaurant, which serves specialty cocktails, wine, and beer alongside quick meals like pizza and salads. Freebies here include parking and Wi-Fi (which can be spotty at times). There's also a very narrow indoor fitness center with a few cardio machines.
