The Days Inn Tropical Seas (also known as Days Inn Daytona Oceanfront) has 75 rooms and is one of the most affordable hotel for
families and couples located on Daytona Beach. The rooms are spacious and some
come with the bonus feature of a full-size kitchenette, a nice option for a two-pearl hotel. Ocean-facing rooms have
balconies that provide some amazing views of the beach and the pool deck, which
has a heated pool and hot tub. The biggest drawbacks of the hotel are that it lacks a fitness center and doesn't provide breakfast. However, restaurants and entertainment are within walking
distance so guests don’t ever have to go far from the beach. The nearby Daytona Shores Inn and Suites has a comparable pool and rooms, so it's worth checking rates.
Scene
A tropical-themed hotel that caters to families and couples of all ages
The Days Inn Tropical Seas has a horizontal beige- and white-striped
facade. Guests park either in an aboveground parking lot or an underground garage with a painted
nautical mural. The lobby has a blue and green tropical theme with
paintings and decorative pieces of palm trees, and a carpet to match. Unfortunately,
the furniture and carpet appear to be dated. The lobby provides
free coffee and water all day, a lending library, and a few computers for
guests to use. The pool deck is located at the back of the hotel, directly in
front of the beach. Days Inn is a chain hotel, and at this particular one, families and their children utilize the pool often, however,
guests range from couples to families of all ages and backgrounds.
Location
Easily accessible by 10-minute walk or drive to restaurants, stores, family entertainment, and beach-related vendors
The hotel is conveniently located directly off Highway
421 on one of the more popular spots of the south end of the beach. Directly behind
the hotel on the beach is an umbrella, chair, and surfboard rental vendor. Only
a four-minute walk away is the Fishin’ Shack, a bait and tackle shop. Across the
street is Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf and a 20-minute drive away is the
Daytona International Speedway for guests looking for family entertainment
beyond the beach. More importantly, there are a multitude of restaurants,
seafood and otherwise, within a 10-minute walk or less. For those
looking to utilize the kitchenettes, microwaves, or mini-fridges in the rooms, CVS is a two-minute walk away, Publix Supermarket is two minutes by car, and Walmart is a
13-minute drive away.
Rooms
Some lovely oceanfront views and full-kitchenettes
75 rooms at the Days Inn Tropical Seas have a basic
beige and white color scheme and are spacious, with quite a few amenities. All
rooms include a microwave and mini-fridge, and some rooms come equipped
with a full-kitchenette that has a large refrigerator, sink, and full-size oven
and stove. The kitchenettes do include plates, silverware, and some pots and pans for guests to use, and the hotel has thoughtfully provided dishwashing detergent and towels. Bathrooms have a lot
of counter space, a tub/shower combo, hairdryer, and a coffeemaker. Rooms above
the first floor that face the ocean provide a lovely view of the beach and the
pool deck from a balcony that has two plastic chairs and a small table. The biggest drawback are reports of maintenance issues which have ranged from problems with showers, refrigerators, Wi-Fi connectivity, and the elevator.
Features
Family-friendly amenities such as a pool deck, beach location, laundry room, and games
The hotel has family-friendly amenities such as two arcade games
next to three snack machines, one of which includes ice cream. There are two coin-operated washing machines and two dryers for guests to use. The laundry room also has a folding table and a soap, bleach, and
softeners dispenser that takes quarters. Next to the pool deck (with the
heated pool and hot tub), there is a shuffle board and a bag toss game. The hotel doesn’t provide breakfast or a fitness center. Perhaps the best feature of the hotel is that it's on Daytona Beach which can be accessed
from the pool deck. Although the hotel doesn’t seem to have many business
guests, it does have two computers, a printer, and free Wi-Fi access
throughout.
