The free breakfast is extensive and receives excellent reviews, and there is an on-site spa plus fitness and business centers. DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach - Dana Point
34402 Pacific Coast Hwy

Situated just five minutes from Doheny Beach, DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach - Dana Point is a mid-range hotel offering decent amenities for tourists and business travelers alike. With an outdoor pool, lounge bar, and California-cuisine restaurant, this property definitely has a beachy vacation vibe. The 196 rooms are spacious and comfortable with modern features including flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers. Unfortunately, they don’t have mini-fridges or minibars. Moreover, Wi-Fi isn’t free in rooms, and there’s been some reports of bothersome noise and cleanliness issues. Travelers may want to consider the BEST WESTERN PLUS Dana Point Inn-by-the-Sea instead; while it might be a little pricier, it comes with free breakfast and parking, both of which cost extra at the DoubleTree.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel
One Ritz-Carlton Drive

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Nigel luxury hotel sits atop a 150-foot bluff that’s up against a beach, which means breathtaking views from the hotel and grounds, plus a place to surf and boogie board below. Upgrading to a Club Level Room comes with excellent food and drink presentations in a private lounge. With two large pools, six dining outlets, free yoga, a relaxing spa, and access to eco adventures, the hotel has all the amenities of a massive resort -- but with a relaxed and quiet setting that feels intimate and local. Note that there's a nightly resort fee and about a two-minute walk down to the beach. For something just as luxe, but slightly cheaper and further from the beach, check rates at Monarch Beach Resort

The 400 spacious, elegant rooms and suites are bright and airy, with private balconies, modern amenities, and luxe marble bathrooms with separate showers and soaking tubs. This is easily one of the nicer hotels in Orange County, but guests seeking something closer to the sand should consider the nearby Montage Laguna Beach, though rates will be higher.
