The four-pearl Waterman Svpetrvs Resort is located a short walk from the harbor and ferry port on the quiet side of Brac. It's modern and stylish, with white-beamed ceilings and clean lines in the serene bedrooms, some of which come with balconies and sea views. Although there's plenty to do on-site -- including five pools and multiple restaurants throughout the larger complex -- it might be more rewarding to head to the port area for dinner as food on the property is only average. The resort is great for those with kids, thanks to age-appropriate clubs, kiddy pool, and mini-golf, plus a spa and adult-only pool appeal to adults. For those seeking a less-sprawling hotel in Brac, the three-and-a-half pearl Hotel Bol is closer to town, though guests will have to walk a bit farther to reach the beach.
Scene
Upscale hotel part of sprawling complex with plenty for kids
The resort is huge and modern, made up of 12 buildings, five of which contain the 400 guest rooms and the others of which are timeshares. Due to several facilities being spread out, expect to do a good amount of walking between pools, restaurants, and rooms. Guests get a map when they check in, which is helpful. Lots of the clientele tend to be older couples, especially French and Germans, but it's also a great place for families, given that there's no shortage of activities for kids, including mini-golf and a separate pool. Fortunately for couples, a spa and adult-only pool mean there are quiet spaces to retreat. Lots of guests take advantage of the restaurants on-site and nearby beach, though many of those that go on the all-inclusive package report average food and drinks.
Location
Located close to Brac's harbor area and ferry
The property is located off a main but quiet road, down a private, gated drive that's well-marked with signage. It's about a 10-minute walk from the harbor area of town, where most restaurants can be found. The property, along with the island, is generally flat. There's a pebble beach a two-minute walk away, though it's public, so there's an extra charge for umbrella and sun lounger rental, and it can get quite crowded.
It's about a 15-minute walk to and from the ferry, which come almost every hour from early in the morning until quite late at night. From there, it's about a 50-minute trip to Split, and a further 30 or so to the airport.
Rooms
Modern and stylish rooms with furnished balconies
Island-inspired rooms are modern, stylish, and don't vary much between the hotel's units. The chic design consists of light neutral walls, stylish black-and-white and colorful geometric throw pillows, wood floors, and on-trend furniture underneath white wood-beamed ceilings. A nice touch: Single Rooms come with king-sized beds. Guests should know that they should be clear whether they want a sea view or a balcony when booking, as some rooms only have one or the other. Some have rather uninspired views of other patios and concrete, so it may be worth splurging on a sea view. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, safes, mini-fridges, work desks, air-conditioning, and blackout curtains. Some bathrooms are tiny, but they're well-maintained and contemporary. They come with either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, as well as hairdryers and toiletries. Suites add sitting areas and sofa beds, while apartment units have up-to-date kitchenettes.
Features
Average food, but a wide selection of pools and activities
Food at the hotel is fine, but nothing to write home about. Adria restaurant, where the all-inclusive guests eat, is average and it can get crowded. The restaurant operates around a 14-day menu to avoid repetition. Like a lot of other all-inclusive properties, cocktails tend to use cheaper liquors and go a bit light on them. Other restaurants, including More (buffet-style) and Antonio's (pizza, pasta, local foods) are reportedly mediocre as well. The Roof Top Bar is a nice place to have a cocktail, however, with views over the sea from the terrace. Breakfast, which is included, offers standard continental options.
The five outdoor pools are kept clean, but they're unheated. An adult-only pool and hot tub cater to peace-seeking travelers. Pool towels require a fee for those not on all-inclusive packages, so guests may want to bring their own. Tennis and volleyball are available, as well as a gym, though the machines aren't in the best condition. Spa facilities are lovely, and the massages are quite good. There's also a theater for live entertainment that seats 300, as well as mini-golf and bowling. Kids can also take advantage of the age-appropriate clubs and their own pool and playground.
Wi-Fi is technically available, but it's unreliable -- some guests have had to depend on the main reception area to pick up the free network.
