The King Jason Paphos is a 127-room three-and-a-half-pearl hotel situated in a quiet neighborhood, just a few blocks north of the main road that runs through town. Rooms here are contemporary and chic, with neutral toned marble, and all have kitchenettes with hobs and fridges, making self-catering a possibility. However, most guests opt for the all-inclusive package (and rightly so), which includes high quality and varied buffet spreads for all three meals, plus an afternoon snack and tea service. Amenities include a small fitness center, a massage treatment room, and four pools, including a hydrotherapy pool and a kids' pool, but there's not much else for families. Travelers with kids in tow may be better off staying at the more kid-friendly Louis Phaethon Beach instead.
Scene
Quiet, boutique hotel popular with older couples from the UK, many of whom are repeat guests
This upscale boutique hotel exudes a quiet, chic vibe from the moment guests step in to the lobby with low ceilings with recessed lighting and an open-plan dining area off to the side. While this area gets busy at mealtimes, the majority of guests spend the rest of their time poolside, either at one of the three main pools located in a central courtyard in front of the lobby or at a quiet adult-only pool accessed through a cozy, living room-like library, complete with plush sofas and chairs and rows of books. Rooms are spread out across multiple blocks, with most overlooking the main pool area and a few off to the side of the property. While children are allowed here, there's not much for them to do, and guests tend to be older couples, primarily from the United Kingdom. The hotel also gets a lot of repeat guests. Note that this property closes annually in December and January.
Location
Residential location in the heart of Paphos, a short walk from the Kings Avenue Mall
The King Jason Paphos is located on a quiet residential road in the heart of Paphos, just a couple of blocks off of the main Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue that turns into Tomb of the Kings Avenue and continues up along the coast. It's about a 10-minute walk or four-minute drive from Kings Avenue Mall, a two-story shopping complex with lots of international brands plus a cinema, an arcade, a kids' play area, and a food court with a few American fast food joints, British sushi, and coffee chains. The UNESCO World Heritage listed Tomb of the Kings is a seven-minute drive or half-hour walk away. It's about a seven-minute drive or 25-minute walk to the Paphos Archaeological Park, full of ancient attractions such as the Paphos Mosaics. The Adonis Baths waterfalls are a half-hour drive from the hotel and it takes about an hour and a half to reach Mount Olympos. Nicosia is a two-hour drive away. Paphos International Airport is 20 minutes from the hotel. The larger Larnaca International Airport takes 90 minutes or so to reach.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms and suites with neutral decor and the occasional quirky touch, plus free beach bags
There are 127 rooms at this hotel across four categories: Superior Studios, Deluxe Studios, One-Bedroom Suites (all remodeled in 2014) and large Executive Suites that were added to the property in 2016. Interiors are contemporary and chic, with a similar decor scheme consisting of polished marble floors, off-white walls and linens offset with pale-beige accents, and the occasional quirky decor addition such as patchwork-patterned chairs or hatstands shaped like gigantic pencils. All units have kitchenettes with coffee-and tea-making facilities, fridges, two-burner stoves, and microwaves. Capsules for the coffeemakers cost extra. Wi-Fi is free in rooms and throughout the hotel. Some rooms also have balconies, and One-Bedroom units add sofa beds in the living rooms. Bathrooms continue the sleek and modern vibe found in the living areas, complete with green frosted-glass doors and big double vanities with vessel sinks that face out over the main living areas (in units with studio configurations). Most have shower/tub combos. Robes, slippers, good-quality toiletries, and hairdryers are provided. All guests get a free high-quality beach bag as a welcome gift.
Features
Four pools, a fitness center, and excellent all-inclusive meal service
This hotel has great facilities for a property of its modest size, starting with the main Centro Pool, which features fountain features that are turned on at night. For younger guests, there's a small kids' pool plus a ping-pong table, but not much else in terms of family-friendly amenities. There's also an adult-only Hydro Contact Pool, complete with massage jets and fountains, plus a second adult-only Elegancia Pool located in a separate area behind the main hotel building and just outside of the hotel's quiet library. For cooler months, there's an indoor Asteria Pool, complete with LED light fixtures designed to resemble the night sky (asteria is Greek for stars). Next to this pool is the Sana Health Club, which features a smallish fitness room with cardio and weight-training equipment, plus a massage room for treatments.Although rooms are equipped for basic self catering, about three quarters of guests here opt for the hotel's all-inclusive dining packages, and the kitchens produce some of the tastiest, highest quality dishes in town. All three meals are served buffet style in a main restaurant area in the lobby, with a vegetarian corner and show cooking. There's also an afternoon tea service with a great spread of pastries, local sweets, and snacks on offer, plus drinks and smoothies at the lobby bar. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and free, secure parking (the hotel gate is locked at night for extra security).
