Louis Ledra Beach

Louis Ledra Beach is a simple mid-range property with large grassy lawns dotted with palm trees that lead out to the main Paphos promenade. The sandy beach sits at the base. The main hotel building itself is a long, four-story whitewashed block with a bright lobby featuring marble floors, tall pillars, and lots of decorative plants and vines. There's tons of seating and a lobby bar that stays active throughout the day. The vibe here is generally quiet, though things can get rowdy during the school holidays when families take over. About 80 percent of guests here are from the United Kingdom, and most are on package tours. Note that this hotel closes annually from December through February. 

Louis Ledra Beach, unsurprisingly, is situated right on the beach, with only a boardwalk separating it from the shoreline. Note that like all beaches in Cyprus, the beach here is public, and anyone can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas for a nominal fee. The hotel is located about a 10-minute drive south of both the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tomb of the Kings and the Paphos Archaeological Park, home to crumbling ruins and ancient mosaics. Alternatively, the archaeological park can be accessed on foot via the boardwalk, but the journey takes a good 45 minutes and can be a bit much in the hot sun. The Adonis Baths waterfalls are a 45-minute drive from the hotel and it takes about 90 minutes to reach Mount Olympos. Nicosia is a two-hour drive away. Paphos International Airport is just under 20 minutes from the hotel. The larger Larnaca International Airport takes around an hour-and-a-half to reach.

The hotel offers Twin and Family Rooms, all with furnished balconies or terraces with full or partial sea views. Decor is simple, but pleasant and contemporary with light-wood furniture matched with light-blue upholstered chairs, matching throw cushions and bed runners. Beige walls and off-white ceilings soften the look. In Family Rooms coordinating baby-blue sofas can be transformed into beds for kids. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, small flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges with a few cold drinks, and kettles. Wi-Fi is provided for a fee, but access is free in the lobby. Bathrooms are modern and bright, with marble floors, walls, and countertops, magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, and basic toiletries. Most come with shower/tub combos, though a few have walk-in showers.

Amenities at this hotel are geared toward families. The colorful indoor kids' club (open seasonally), a game room with arcade games, and a large grassy playground area with see-saws and a swing set keep kids busy. There are also all sorts of activities throughout the grounds, including table tennis, pool, giant chess, tennis courts, and beach volleyball. Other wellness facilities include a bright fitness center with cardio and weight-training equipment, plus a spa featuring treatments from around the world. 

There are three pools: the main outdoor pool, a second smaller kids' splash pool, and a small, gorgeous indoor pool with a mosaic tiled floor housed in an atrium-style room with windowed walls looking out onto greenery beyond. Alternatively, guests can head straight down to the public beach adjacent to the property, where the waters are clean and generally calm enough for swimming. 

This property has a ton of dining options, and most guests are on an all-inclusive package that provides free snacks, local alcoholic drinks, beer, and wine. Bed-and-breakfast and half-board plans are also available. Meals are served buffet style at the main indoor Akamantis Restaurant, which also offers a number of specialty themed nights featuring everything from Asian to Mexican fare. Food is of good quality and there's a special vegetarian corner, a kids' buffet, and live show cooking. Sundowner Pool Restaurant and Bar is a nice option for guests who don't want to get dressed to go inside, and there are gala nights held here in peak season. Other bar options include the Gazebo Lounge in the lobby, plus a seasonal beach bar, Waves, that's open during the day.

Note that Wi-Fi is free in the lobby but costs extra in rooms. There's plenty of free parking, though most guests here don't bother with rental cars.
