Helios Bay Hotel is a three-pearl beachfront apartment hotel featuring 68 units that range from studios to two-bedroom villas. All rooms have kitchens, and while the apartments are a bit on the basic side in terms of decor, the Villas are sleek and feature gorgeous dark interiors and large terraces. Standout features include a large outdoor pool area with a shaded pool bar separated from the seafront promenade by a large expanse of grassy lawns with a kids' playground and a handful of lounge chairs. There's also a dated fitness center, a sauna, table tennis, and a pool table. While there's no all-inclusive option, all three meals are available for a fee and breakfast is served buffet style. Travelers on a budget may want to also consider the nearby Hilltop Gardens Hotel Apartments, which are a little cheaper but not on the beach.
Scene
Family-run apartment hotel set right on the beach, with sprawling grassy grounds and a large central pool area
Helios Bay Hotel is a low-key, family-run apartment hotel set on the beach. The hotel is spread across a main building where all of the facilities and apartments are located, and there are seven two-bedroom villas right next to the hotel. While the lobby is pleasant enough, with a few simple sofas and chairs and a TV. The heart of activity takes place at the main pool area, and expansive grassy grounds full of palm trees and manicured cacti separate the hotel from the seafront promenade. Most guests here are from the United Kingdom or Russia, and the hotel gets lots of repeat visitors. Note that this hotel group also manages a few more units in the vicinity, including seven three-bedroom villas in the Coral Bay area.
Location
Beachfront location in between Paphos and Coral Bay, a short drive from the Tomb of the Kings
Helios Bay Hotel is located right on a sandy beach, on the main road that runs along the coastline between Coral Bay and Paphos. The main entrance is right next to a dive shop and the hotel's villas are located just around the corner from the main entrance on a side street. There’s a branch of the popular discount supermarket LIDL a five-minute drive away. Plenty of places to eat and drink can be found within walking distance, including an Indian restaurant across the street. Coral Bay is a 13-minute drive north, and it takes around the same amount of time to get to Paphos by car. It's a seven-minute drive north of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Tomb of the Kings. The Adonis Baths waterfalls are a 25-minute drive from the hotel and it takes about two hours to reach Mount Olympos. Nicosia is also a two-hour drive. Paphos International Airport is a half-hour from the hotel. The larger Larnaca International Airport takes 90 minutes or so to reach.
Rooms
Bright rooms and villas with fully equipped kitchens, but extra fees for Wi-Fi
This property features 40 one-bedroom apartments and 21 studios in the main part of the hotel, along with an additional seven semi-detached two-bedroom villas on a side street next to the hotel, set amongst a couple of rows of identical homes, most of which are privately owned. Villas were decorated in 2016 and have a sleek and dark decor scheme. They have double beds in the master bedrooms, plus two twin beds in the second rooms. These units also have lovely kitchens and big terraces with lounge chairs. The apartments are simple and not particularly impressive in terms of decor, with basic light-wood furnishings and dated patterned bedspreads, but they are bright and kept in excellent repair. All apartments have two twin beds (double beds are two twins pushed together), and the one-bedroom units have two sofas that can be converted into beds for kids. Kitchens feature mini-fridges, two-burner hobs, toasters, and kettles. All but the studio units have ovens (though these can be arranged in studios on request). Apartments come with flat-screen TVs with satellite cable and Wi-Fi is available for a nominal fee. All have balconies or terraces except for the studios on higher floors, and double-glazed glass doors help keep outside noise to a minimum. Bathrooms were refurbished in 2014 and have shower/tub combos with glass doors. Toiletries are provided.

The star feature at Helios Bay Hotel is the lovely outdoor pool deck, featuring lots of lounge chairs, a shaded pool bar, and a medium-size pool with lots of shaded lounge chairs and a separate kids' pool. There's also a fitness center with a collection of cardio and weight training equipment, though the machines here are on the older side. Other amenities include a sauna, a playground, a pool table, and table tennis. This hotel does not offer any sort of dining packages as most of the guests are here for the self-catering facilities, but there is a breakfast buffet offered daily for a fee. Lunch, dinner, and drinks are served a la carte at the pool bar. Wi-Fi is free in public areas and available for a small fee in rooms. There's also plenty of free surface lot parking.
