While Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, coffee- and tea-making facilities and mini-fridges cost extra in lower room categories. Facilities include a gorgeous beach with a swimming area partially sectioned off from the sea by a rocky outcropping, plus a large lagoon pool, a second smaller pool (for guests staying in a select wing), multiple restaurants with buffets offering high quality food (with allergens clearly marked). Travelers may also want to consider Queen's Bay Hotel, which offers similar rates and is located just a few minute's drive down the coast.
Scene
Mid-range beachfront resort hotel with gorgeous views; closed in the winter and early spring months
Cynthiana Beach Hotel is a mid-range vacation property spread out over four blocks on a cliffside, with gorgeous views out over the Mediterranean Sea from most of the property. The lobby and the majority of the facilities are located in the main five-story off-white building. The large lobby is a simple space with lots of well-worn sofas and chairs in hues of beige and a pale tomato-soup red set on gray marble tile floors. The grounds are a bit more impressive, with lots of typically Mediterranean shrubs, palm trees, and grassy areas lined with lounge chairs. This property gets a mix of British and Russian tourists, including plenty of families during school holidays. Note that this hotel closes annually from the end of November until the end of March.
Location
Spread out over a peninsula, just off the main highway between Coral Bay and Paphos
This hotel is spread out over the tip of a peninsula, at the base of a quiet street off the main coastal highway in between Coral Bay (a nine-minute drive to the north) and Paphos (15 minutes south of the hotel). Its location means that the hotel offers gorgeous sea views from many the facilities and rooms. Guests can descend straight to the beach from the property. Getting to the Paphos Airport takes around a half-hour or a bit longer via bus (from the main road, one stop is required). The Adonis Baths waterfall is about 25 minutes inland by car and it takes around an hour and 45 minutes to reach Mount Olympos. Nicosia is a two-hour drive away.
Rooms
Simple rooms and suites, most with gorgeous sea views, but fees for basic amenities in Standard Rooms
This hotel offers a variety of rooms with fantastic sea or garden views, starting with entry-level Standard and Family Rooms, which can sleep two or four guests, respectively. Decor in this category is simple and pleasant, with dark blue carpets, light-wood furniture, and pops of blue in the bed runners and watercolor wall art that gives the spaces a slight nautical vibe. Superior Rooms and Superior Family Rooms are similarly furnished and all have sea views. These units are a bit larger and also include perks such as coffee- and tea-making facilities, mini-fridges, and safes (which all cost extra in lower categories). A total of 32 Superior Rooms are located in the hotel's sleek Olympian Wing, which features its own lagoon swimming pool. The hotel also offers a number of renovated Deluxe Sea View Rooms, which have newer beige furniture and light-wood flooring as well as a handful of Superior and Executive Suites, all with pool views, separate living rooms and bedrooms, and dining tables. Bathrooms in most units have shower/tub combos, long granite countertops, and toiletries.
Features
Lovely beach, two lagoon pools, fitness center, multiple bars and restaurants, and daily animation team
This hotel offers great amenities geared toward tourists, starting with a lovely beach that's lined with lounge chairs and has a cove-style stone outcropping that keeps the waters calm for swimming. Alternatively, there's a large main pool with tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas, plus a smaller kids' splash pool for younger guests. Those staying in the Olympian Wing also have the option of swimming in a smaller lagoon pool with a bridge feature. This section of the hotel also has a splash pool for kids that's identical to the one by the main pool. Animation is offered and includes games like boules (petanque) and water polo.
Other amenities include a game area with table tennis and a pool table, a playground with swings and climbing structures, and a lovely massage pavilion with two massage tables and views out over the sea. There's also a small gym with a couple of treadmills and a cross-training machine. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there's a small lot with a limited amount of parking.
Dining options range from bed-and-breakfast packages to all-inclusive packages and meals are served either at the main Artemis Restaurant -- where breakfast and themed dinner buffets are served -- or at the Iris Restaurant in the Olympian Wing, which is only open for breakfast (again, served buffet style). Lunch is served buffet or a la carte at the Mythos Snack Bar, which has indoor and outdoor seating and views out over the main pool. The resort also offers a lobby bar, Agronaut, along with a beachfront Beach Bar with palapa-shaded tables. The Olympian Bar is located by the pool in the Olympian Wing and serves snacks and cocktails. Items at the buffets are clearly marked with allergens, making this hotel a good option for those with special diets. Note that room service is available, but it's mostly used for drinks.
