Bottom Line

The 225-room Capo Bay Hotel is a simple, upscale hotel overlooking Fig Tree Bay. Off one of the island’s main roads, the hotel is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the swimmable beach. Three swimming pools, a spa, and on-site boutiques mean there's plenty to do. There are a number of restaurants and bars, but you may find a better deal by going off the grounds to eat. The rooms lack a sense of style and aren’t overly large, but do include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and coffeemakers. In-room Wi-Fi is available for a fee. Note that the hotel is closed from November until the end of March.

Simple style to appease everyone

The Capo Bay Hotel’s offerings—from the spa, to the family pool and kids' club, to the meeting space—are diverse and provide an enticing stay for almost any kind of traveler. This catch-all approach, though, might account for the general lack of style throughout the hotel. To appeal to everyone might require not being specifically appealing. The hotel rooms are bland and the common spaces are not much better. White, blonde wood, and slate are the colors of choice. Pictures of dazzling blue seas, which hang from the lobby ceiling and guest room walls, are muted by their cheap, thin frames. It’s not that there’s no sense of style—there are cushy baby blue ottomans, globular vases filled with a single floating flower—but the vibe is generic and lacking for a hotel of this caliber.More fun can be had in the outdoor spaces—both the large, curving family pool, and the garden stocked with sun chairs, which are allocated to guests upon arrival. The restaurants, too, have livelier vibe, with sprawling decks and distinct furnishings paired to each restaurant (though all remain heavily reliant on the color white).

Location

Off the beach, near shops and restaurants

The location of the Capo Bay Hotel is fairly ideal. Off the coast of Fig Tree Bay, the hotel is just across a short boardwalk from the local beach. While it can get crowded fast, the hotel does designate sun chairs in its garden, which is still a short walk to the water. Capo Bay is also off the main commercial street in Protaras, near plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as other hotels.

Rooms

Slightly small, but with a flat-screen TV, multi-jet shower, and balcony

Like the common spaces, the rooms at the Capo Bay Hotel are unadorned. Thin, plain sheets cover the beds. There’s a blonde wood accent wall to match a very thin table/TV stand, which holds the small flat-screen TV. Though there's little drawer space to put away your things, there is a closet. A small, furnished balcony brings a lot of light into the room, making the space feel less cramped. Bathrooms are also slightly smaller than you might wish, but include multi-jet showers and L’Occitane bath products. Wi-Fi is available for a fee. Some rooms have partial views of the sea.

Features

A number of dining options, a spa, three pools, and watersports at the beach

Since the hotel is so close to nearby restaurants, it's odd that it offers so many on-site dining options: Cucina, elea, Koi, and Mama’s, along with Bitter Lemons, the hotel bar, and the Dinner 4 2 private beachside dinner. There’s also the full-service Oneiro Spa, which provides body treatments as well as a jacuzzi, steam bath, and indoor lap pool. As part of the spa, there's a spacious gym with cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. For families, the hotel has a sprawling outdoor pool that includes areas of different depth for swimmers of all levels. There’s also a weekday supervised kids' club and babysitters can be booked through the concierge. The beachside watersports shack offers guests of all ages some thrills, including parasailing, kayaking, waterskiing, and more, for an extra cost. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby.
