The upper-middle-range Capital Coast Resort & Spa is a contemporary, family-friendly resort conveniently located within walking distance of the Tombs of the Kings and other ancient ruins. Many of the 208 rooms, which include three-bedroom suites with full kitchens, have private balconies -- some overlooking the water. The resort has two large outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a children's pool, and a full-service spa, as well as an a la carte restaurant and lounge bar with live entertainment. The private, rocky coast isn't suitable for swimming, but the sandy Coral Bay beach is a 15-minute public bus ride away. The hotel offers facilities for both couples and families, but travelers with small children might want to consider the [Louis Phaethon Beach](Louis Phaethon Beach), which has a water park and more scheduled entertainment.
Scene
Contemporary, if a bit bland, design, with a pool scene and a rugged coast
The Capital Coast Resort & Spa is a spacious, open resort with expansive lawns built around two large adjacent pools. Situated along the coast, the resort has multiple vantage points with panoramic Mediterranean views, though the rocky "beach" is a letdown as it's not suitable for lounging or swimming. However, snorkeling, scuba, windsurfing, and boating are available for an additional charge. The hotel doesn't have the buzzing vibe of many area resorts, but sports facilities, a game room, and live evening entertainment at the lounge bar are available to keep guests busy. The spacious lobby's tile floors and brown seating arrangements reflect the hotel's contemporary yet bland design, though a few chairs with striped cushions and plants help add some color to the space. Wooden tables on the pool deck and loungers on the lawn are the resort's more pleasant areas. Given its proximity to at least two ruins, it's an excellent choice for archaeology and history buffs.
Location
Along the water near archaeological sights, and about a 10-minute drive to Paphos City
The Capital Coast Resort & Spa is located off a busy main road and along a rocky coast. It's a 10- to 15-minute drive to the shops, bars, and restaurants of Paphos City, and a 15-minute walk to the ancient ruins of Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Fort. As the beach here is rocky and not suitable for swimming, most guests take a 15-minute public bus ride to the sandy Coral Bay beach. The Medieval Castle and Ancient Theater are a 10-minute drive from the resort, as is the Paphos Bird and Animal Park. The Paphos Aphrodite Water Park is a 15-minute drive away, and the island's most popular water park, Fassouri, is about an hour's drive from the hotel in Limassol. Four golf courses are within a 30-minute drive. Paphos Airport is about a 25-minute drive from the hotel, while Larnaca Airport is a 90-minute drive from the resort; some room rates include transfers to Paphos Airport.
Rooms
Spacious, contemporary units, some with balconies and sea views
The 208 rooms at the Capital Coast Resort & Spa are bright and contemporary, if a bit underwhelming, featuring simplistic wood furniture and two-tone striped bedding. Some rooms do have large modern art pieces and bright yellow throw blankets draped across tan couches to give the units a more homey feel. Rooms range from standard to three-bedroom suites with kitchens, and many have furnished private balconies. Views vary between the surrounding hills, sea, or pool -- with the latter picking up the most noise, though noise travels between floors across the board. Standard amenities include mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, safes, and ironing facilities, while suites add well-equipped kitchens that include washing machines, microwaves, full-size fridges, stoves, ovens, toasters, blenders, and cookware. Coffeepots are provided, but guests must provide their own coffee and tea. Beige bathrooms have separate shower stalls and tubs, vessel sinks, hairdryers, and toiletries. Wi-Fi requires a fee and service can be spotty.
