Bottom Line

The budget Ramada Culver City provides comfortable accommodations and some nice added features for affordable rates. It's located near the beaches and airport, a few minutes west of downtown Culver City. The motel-style property has a contemporary lobby, and its 50 guest rooms are basic but tidy. All have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, spacious desks with office chairs, and coffeemakers with free coffee, but there are no mini-fridges. Bathrooms contain roomy walk-in showers, hairdryers, and a decent stock of toiletries, and Suites have separate walk-in showers and whirlpool tubs. Freebies include a continental breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout, and on-site parking, and there's a small gym and a business center on-site. Travelers looking for a stay that's convenient to the airport but has a pool can consider Super 8 Los Angeles/Culver City Area.

Scene

A basic but comfortable and pleasant stay for business and leisure travelers

This older hotel is generally well-maintained and it's been nicely updated. There's a cheerful lobby with contemporary decor, but guests don't tend to sit here much. The breakfast room is a slight step up from what's typically seen in a budget hotel, with brown marble floors, some natural stone walls, and counters with bar stools that face windows. A small connecting outdoor patio provides a pleasant place to eat in the sun. The hotel draws a mix of business and leisure travelers, many passing through nearby Los Angeles International Airport.

Location

Just off Interstate 405, about six minutes west of downtown Culver City

The Ramada is located just off Interstate 405, about a six-minutes drive west of downtown Culver City and its many restaurants. The immediate area is busy, safe, and consists mostly commercial properties, with a few restaurants within walking distance. Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier are about 18 minutes by car, as is Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Depending on traffic and time of day, driving to downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles International Airport, or the Hollywood Walk of Fame will take approximately 30 minutes.

Rooms

Comfortable and contemporary, with coffeemakers and roomy walk-in showers

Like the hotel’s public spaces, guest rooms have been updated with contemporary decor that's a tad nicer than what’s typically seen in budget properties. Spaces are done in warm neutrals with tasteful, pumpkin-orange accent walls behind the beds and crimson and silver bed throws. Much of the espresso-finish wooden furniture is topped by white acrylic, including roomy desks with office chairs. All come with wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers with free coffee, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no mini-fridges.Standard rooms (Kings and Double Doubles) are comfortably sized and include armchairs, and storage is provided by small armoires tucked into corners. Vanities are placed just outside the bathrooms, which have roomy walk-in showers with clear glass doors and cream marble tiling, hairdryers, and a good supply of toiletries. Suites have larger marble bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and oversize whirlpool tubs. Some noise from the busy street or parking lot can be heard, but the rooms are relatively quiet. Views are unremarkable.

Features

Free breakfast, guest laundry room, free parking, business center, and free Wi-Fi

The Ramada Culver City has exterior corridors, but elevator service is provided to the top floors. The free continental breakfast is very basic, with coffee, juice, cereal, baked goods, instant oatmeal, and packaged pancakes that can be warmed up. Vending machines sell snacks and soft drinks, and a small lobby shop sells sundries. The hotel offers valet dry cleaning and laundry, and there's a guest laundry room with one washer/dryer. The fitness center is small and sparsely equipped with older but well-maintained equipment, and the space is bright and gets flooded with natural light. The lobby has a computer and printer that guests can use free of charge, and daily newspapers, on-site parking, Wi-Fi throughout are free.
