Pela Maria Hotel

Located directly on the main road in Hersonissos, Pela Maria Hotel has a few shops as well as a cafe facing the sidewalk that’s open to the public. The mini-market sells everything from candy to pharmacy items to alcohol. There’s also a souvenir shop selling clothing, knick-knacks, rugs, and beach necessities like bathing suits, hats, and sunglasses. The cafe-bar has wicker chairs lined up on the sidewalk so guests can enjoy a coffee or drink and watch street traffic go by. Inside, the bar area can be lively at night with disco lighting and music until early in the morning. The lobby of the hotel is generally bare and offers a light, neutral palette, with the space flanked by a black spiral staircase leading upstairs.  

Pela Maria Hotel is located on a busy street across from a bakery and surrounded by shops and restaurants, with a karaoke bar found not far away. It’s a short walk to the beach where water-based sports like jet-skiing and parasailing are available. Heraklion International Airport is less than a half-hour drive west, and several historical destinations, including the Palace of Knossos, the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, and the Historical Museum of Crete, are within a 35-minute drive west as well. Other nearby attractions include the Cretaquarium and the Palace of Malia, the third largest Minoan palace on the island.

Rooms available are separate into Standard and Superior categories, and guests have revealed that some rooms here have worn furnishings and cramped bathrooms, while other units have been updated. Certain rooms offer panoramic views of the mountains or sea. All units have TVs with satellite channels, while air-conditioning and in-rooms safes are available for a fee. Mini-fridges are available on request. Bathrooms have handheld showers. 

Amenities are generally limited at the Pela Maria. The hotel has an outdoor pool with lounge chairs and a pool bar with outdoor and indoor seating. There’s an on-site mini-market and a souvenir shop, and the lively cafe-bar has sidewalk seating and music playing in the evenings. The lobby area has a billiards table and an Internet corner with three computers.
