Bottom Line

As its name suggests, the Panorama sits
high on a hill with spectacular views over Chania bay. The property is a bit of a drive from
Chania, at the heart of a suburb crossed by a busy road, so walking outside of the Panorama can be difficult and sometimes dangerous. The hotel is an upper-mid-range all-inclusive option geared toward older couples and families who want to stay on the grounds and laze by the pool and beach, or rent a car and explore more afield. Some rooms have balconies and sea views. Panorama is not the best choice for guests who want to spend lots of time in Chania town.

Scene

An all-inclusive option with a pleasant pool area, away from bustling Chania

Despite stunning views from its
hillside location and the choice of several large public pools, this hotel is in a noisy, unattractive suburb and the property could benefit from better-trained, more
helpful staff. Shiny with sleek marble floors, the ballroom-sized lobby area has cushy sofa seats scattered throughout and offers lots of quirky details, including gold stools, peacock-blue sofas, and several pianos. Large glass doors lead out to the pool area with panoramic views over the bay and a glass-sided lift that leads down to the Blue Executive Wing, a private area with suites and a small bar area. With several bars and restaurants and two seawater swimming
pools, Panorama attracts older couples and families who are not bothered by the
limited entertainment options on-site.

Location

Overlooking a busy road and a small sandy beach in a suburb

A drive away from the cafes, restaurants,
museums, and other attractions of historic Chania, Panorama hotel is also within
reach of spectacular trekking opportunities in Samaria Gorge. Overlooking a small
sandy beach, the resort is a suitable base for visiting other local
attractions as well, including the tropical beach of Elafonissi, the villages of the
White Mountains, and the fabled Minoan remains of Knossos. Chania International Airport is less than half-an-hour's drive to the east.

Rooms

Comfortable, with sea or mountain views; some spaces have private pools

Renovated in 2000, Panorama’s rooms and suites have a variety of outdoor views, some featuring the
surrounding mountains and bay of Chania. All rooms have furnished balconies
or terraces and interior seating areas. Additional touches include welcome
fruit baskets and flowers, though beds are reported to be hard. The hotel’s Panorama Blue
Executive Wing, set one level lower than the main building, has 60 suites with
sizable living room areas. There’s also a Garden Deluxe room with sea views
from its own private terrace while the Executive Deluxe room has a private
pool shared between two suites. Private facilities in the Blue Wing
include a pool bar, public pool, and small business center with several
computers.

Features

Public and private pools, several food/drink options, and a panoramic walkway to the beach

Panorama’s two seawater pools
with panoramic views over Chania Bay are popular with families during the
daytime, while couples and families who enjoy the sea tend to head for the
beach, where there are sun beds and parasols. For buffet breakfast and
evening meals, guests dine at Symposium, the hotel’s sea-view restaurant that serves
Greek and Cretan cuisine; theme nights are held there during the summer season.
The Almyra Pool Bar/Restaurant serves snacks and drinks throughout the
day and the Panoramic Bar is a popular spot for sunset cocktails and late-night
sipping. Guests in the hotel’s Blue Wing can also enjoy snacks and drinks in
the private Panorama Blue Lounge area, which also has a terrace with expansive sea views.Additionally, the hotel has a tennis court, fitness center, hairdressing
salon, and shops, while the kids’ club offers a range of entertainment.
