Constructed in 2005, Castlewood House is a cozy bed and breakfast. Owners Helen and Brian have accumulated an impressive collection of antique
furnishings and artworks (by local artists) that are scattered throughout the guesthouse.
Unlike similar properties, the building was designed as a hotel and its
architecture maximizes viewpoints over the sea, while also including the handy
addition of an elevator. Spotlessly clean and immaculately maintained, the hotel feels homey. Guests tend to be couples on short touring
breaks, although vacationing families sometimes stay here as well.

Overlooking picturesque Dingle Bay in the southwest of Ireland
Castlewood House
is located overlooking Dingle Bay on the Wild Atlantic Way tourism trail in the
southwestern county of Kerry. The hotel is set beside Milltown Bridge on one of
the main roads out of Dingle, with the town center's restaurants and pubs are just a five minutes' walk away. Dingle
Distillery is also just a few minutes' walk across the bridge where you can go on
a tour that includes tastings of Dingle Whiskey, Dingle Gin, and Dingle Vodka. There are also plenty of local walking trails through some of the country's most scenic
landscapes nearby.

Rooms are
individually-styled with a blend of antique and
modern furnishings, brocade drapery, and gilt-framed artworks. All have plenty
of space with large beds and comfy seating areas, while all but one feature
lovely views across the bay. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen
TVs with DVD players (a movie library available), and filtered water from the
hotel's own well. The marble-topped bathrooms really shine with jetted tubs, walk-in
showers, and luxury toiletries -- bathrobes and slippers are also provided. Rooms
are not air conditioned, so they can get warm during summer months.

breakfast is cooked-to-order from locally-sourced ingredients and includes homemade breads, kippers, and smoked salmon. Afternoon tea is served in the drawing
room, an elegant lounge with a marble fireplace and comfy sofas where guests
can help themselves to hot drinks and homemade cakes. There's also a small library and Castlewood House has its own well with
very tasty water. However, there's no full restaurant, nor on-site gym or spa.
