Aparthotel Vista Pacifico

Aparthotel Vista Pacifico is all about the views, which can be enjoyed from almost every angle of its small property. Plant life shades the short pathways that curve around the central courtyard, where sunny yellow buildings with terra-cotta roofs overlook the pool. Most guest rooms open onto views of Jaco and the distant ocean. The BBQ and breakfast terrace are set on the opposite side of the courtyard and feature views over an untouched valley. Cool breezes are a welcome side effect of the hotel’s elevated location, and particularly important for guests in rooms without AC.

The owners of this mid-range hotel are a Canadian expat family, and the property mainly draws a similar demographic of English-speaking families as well as couples. Though there’s nothing within walking distance, the hotel’s location is a pro for many families. It’s a short drive from Jaco’s beach and amenities, but also removed from its raucous nightlife scene. The owners live on the property, and they’re readily available to provide local tips and recommendations. The atmosphere is intimate, low-key, and friendly, with the pool and breakfast terrace serving as relaxed gathering places where guests can mingle. 

Aparthotel Vista Pacifico is set along an unpaved road, where it has few other neighbors aside from some private homes. The hotel’s hillside location is responsible for its wonderful views, but it also means that there’s not much within walking distance. Jaco’s lively bars, restaurants, and beach are less than a 10-minute drive away. For those without a car, taxi rides into town are reasonably priced. 

Croc’s Casino Resort, one of the biggest casinos in the region, is around a five-minute drive away. Carara National Park and Manuel Antonio National Park are 25 minutes and one and a half hours by car, respectively. San Jose's international airport is a bit under an hour and a half by car. 

Guest rooms here aren't especially stylish, but are nonetheless bright and inviting. Vivid contemporary artwork decorates yellow walls, and beds have blue runners along with patchwork accent pillows. Most of the furniture is light wood, while the flooring is terra-cotta tiles. No-frills bathrooms have showers with polka-dot curtains. Towels and off-brand soap bars and shampoo bottles are provided. All rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi (though the connection can be spotty in some), but not all have air-conditioning. Most have furnished terraces or balconies with picturesque views over Jaco. The distant ocean is also partially visible from upper-floor rooms. Budget rooms face in the opposite direction, offering views over a lush valley.

Studio Rooms include mini-fridges, while Studio Suites add kitchenettes with hot plates, fridges, and microwaves. One- and Two-Bedroom Suites have separate living areas with sofa beds, as well as larger kitchenettes with full-size fridges and a good range of cookware and cutlery.

This small hotel offers a modest lineup of convenient on-site features. The property’s focal point is a large, kidney-shaped pool, which is bordered by a few wooden loungers with soft cushions. Free breakfast is served on the tiny terrace of the main building, which features views of the pool and a beautiful valley. The breakfast spread is a simple but pleasant selection of fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, and granola, along with coffee and juice. 

A limited range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available for sale. A BBQ is offered for guest use. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, although the connection is not strong in all areas of the property. There’s a compact free parking area in front of the property. Staff can assist in booking local tours and activities.
