The Doña Monse is a cool and contemporary hotel, with a subdued but sophisticated design focusing on clean lines, neutral tones, splashes of shiny chrome, and sleek backlighting. Large gold-framed floral artworks and bamboo plants at El Cucharon restaurant are more casual, as is the sports bar with brick-lined walls and darts boards, plus a small casino area. Up on the roof, with lovely views of the flamingo-colored Pink Lagoon, is the hotel’s pool terrace, with a small lap pool and a bar set on a patio covered in fake grass. The hotel attracts primarily couples who want a relaxing setting for either a spa or golf getaway.

Set in a quiet residential area near the Pink Lagoon, this hotel's location can be both a pro and con. Although there's little within walking distance, there are a handful of bars and restaurants, and a supermarket. For golfers, there are four courses within a 16-minute drive, the closest being Campo de Golf Villamartin at 12 minutes. However, it takes 10 minutes to get to the town of Torrevieja by bus or car, and it is a 20-minute drive to the beach at Playa de Los Locos. There is very little going on in the hotel’s immediate vicinity, so guests looking to spend an evening in town ought to be mindful of the journey back. That said, the Centro Comercial Zenia Blvd shopping mall is seven minutes’ drive away. Expect transfers to Murcia-San Javier Airport to take 20 minutes by car, while transfers to Alicante Airport take 40 minutes.

Much like the shared areas downstairs, the 70 rooms here are clean-cut and contemporary, plus many have views over the Pink Lagoon. Standard rooms are available either as singles or doubles, and they have dark-wood floors, plum-colored satin bed runners and drapes, white walls, and minimalist furniture in a lighter shade of wood than the floors. The overall look is a bit generic, but long photos of the area at night add a nice touch. Their bathrooms, through frosted glass doors, are outfitted with shower/tub combos and bidets. Higher-category rooms add seating areas, jetted tubs and separate showers, and/or dining tables. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, safe, and minibar, plus hairdryer, toiletries, and free Wi-Fi. Junior and Deluxe Suites add a Nespresso machine. 

Given that there's little to do in the immediate surrounds, it's helpful that the hotel has a long list of amenities to keep guests occupied. A standout is the roof terrace with panoramic views of the Pink Lagoon, as well as a small pool, hot tub, and kiddy pool. A raised terrace offers some loungers, but most of the remaining space is given to the pool bar and its seating. The spa is another highlight, with treatment rooms for massages and wellness therapies, as well as a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, and well-equipped gym. There are two restaurants at the hotel, one of which is casual and offers a free well-reviewed buffet breakfast and an a la carte lunch and dinner menu, while the more formal of the two offers a set menu dinner. The hotel also has a sports bar, with darts boards, TVs showing soccer games, and a small casino with slot machines and electronic poker. The hotel has fast and free Wi-Fi throughout, free outdoor parking, and secure underground parking for a fee.
