Bottom Line

The 46-room Coral Hotel is a medium-sized budget property popular with couples looking for a quiet holiday. The on-site restaurant gets rave reviews for using local seafood and meat plus herbs and veggies from the hotel's garden. The swimming pool has plenty of cozy sun loungers and the adjacent bar sells cocktails and ice cream. Though the Ionian Sea is directly across the street, there's a short sea wall and rocks so it's not a swimming beach and there aren't any facilities. Elegant rooms are clean and nicely sized -- most have balconies and some offer views of the water. Nightly entertainment in the bar is a fun touch but the overall vibe is definitely peaceful and not a party scene.

Scene

Pretty, seafront hotel

The two-story pink Coral Hotel faces the Ionian Sea and offers quiet and privacy to its clientele that consists mostly of couples. Two large palm trees and white umbrellas provide shade in the ocean facing restaurant. Lemon trees and a veggie garden are pretty details. Inside, the lobby is bright. A big glass aquarium and red floral upholstered chairs add color. The scene at the pool is grown-up and quiet. There are ample blue sun loungers and umbrellas. A painted green fence adds privacy while the poolside bar is convenient for a day spent poolside.

Location

The village of Roda

Hotel Coral Beach has a quiet location in the village of Roda about a 20-minute drive from the city center of Corfu and its airport. The hotel sits directly across a quiet street from the Ionian Sea and next to an empty lot. Roda, a nearby village, is packed with seaside restaurants, shops, and tourists -- but only in the summer. The area is almost completely closed in the winter months. Parking on property is free.

Rooms

Clean and bright (some sea views)

There are 46 rooms at Coral Hotel and each is slightly different but come standard with flat-screen TVs, small refrigerators with a free bottle of water, and electric kettles. Furniture is made of pine and floors are tiled while walls are painted beige. The family room is divided into an upper loft with an extra bed. Decent size tiled bathrooms have single shower stalls and white bowl sinks.Tiny bars of packaged soap are the only bath amenities provided -- a little chintzy for this price point. Views vary from the Ionian Sea to the swimming pool to the garden grounds but most rooms include a small balcony. Wi-Fi in the rooms costs extra.

Features

Swimming pool, restaurant, and two bars

The landscaped swimming pool is a real draw at Coral Hotel. An adjacent poolside bar sells ice cream, snacks, and cocktails. The on-site restaurant does an excellent job at going beyond gyros and kebabs by incorporating seafood bought from local fisherman and vegetables grown in the hotel's garden. There's a patio bar and one in the lobby plus live entertainment by the staff. Wi-Fi is free in the public areas and a small library in the lobby is a nice touch.
