The comfortable rooms include large windows, and with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and coffeemakers, cover the basics. The free breakfast is a nice touch, and bicycles can be rented. Guests may want to compare rates with the Ibsens Hotel, which charges for breakfast but has a few more on-site features, including a fitness center and three restaurants.
Scene
Housed in an Art Deco building with plenty of common areas
The Savoy is located in a five-story Art Deco building that's attached to adjacent offices. The lobby and lounge are modern but exude a cozy vibe, with low lighting and seating areas. Bookshelves contain books on Copenhagen, along with some paperbacks seemingly left behind by previous guests. The lobby has a small bar next to the reception desk that serves drinks and pastries. Outside is a row of white patio-style tables and chairs in a long courtyard lodged between buildings. Given the lack of business services -- no business center and no meeting rooms -- the Savoy is more popular with tourists than business travelers.
Location
A short walk to Central Station and Tivoli Gardens
The Savoy Hotel is situated on the busy Vesterbrograde, a thoroughfare that leads directly to the train station, which is about a seven-minute walk away, and Tivoli Gardens, about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The Savoy, on the edge of the Vesterbro District, is surrounded by bars, restaurants, and shops, and is about a 15-minute walk to the main shopping street of Stroget. The Copenhagen Airport is 25 minutes from the hotel by car or public transportation.
Rooms
Simple, contemporary rooms and suites with blue-and-white decor
The 66 rooms at the Savoy range from Single Rooms to Junior Suites with living rooms, and two-room Family Rooms with couches. All have modern light-wood furniture and white bedding offset by light-blue velvet throws and ottomans, and brown accent cushions with curtains to match. Walls are plain and white, save for the odd framed photo or strip of pale-blue wallpaper with curlicue vines and bird motifs. Most rooms have open wardrobes, and all come with free Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs. The bathrooms have light marble-style tiles, shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries in dispensers. Soundproofing could be better, as guests have complained about noise from the hallway.
Features
Free daily continental breakfast and bikes for rent
A buffet continental breakfast is included in room rate, and comes with fresh breads and pastries, fruits, meats, cheeses, and eggs, including some organic items. Guests with early departures can request a packed breakfast from the front desk. Breakfast is served in a large breakfast room with booth and table seating, and guests can take breakfast in the courtyard when the weather permits. Bicycles are available for rent from the hotel.
