Bottom Line

A former corn-drying warehouse on the Copenhagen harbor, the Copenhagen Admiral Hotel is a nautical-themed upper-mid-range hotel at the heart of the city's most popular tourist sights. Its nautical theme and historic
ambiance make it feel distinctly Danish, and its combination of amenities -- an impressive (but not always free) breakfast spread, popular and acclaimed bar and
restaurant, wellness center with a sauna, and meeting rooms -- make it a fit for everyone from business travelers and large groups to tourists who
appreciate a little history and culture in their stay.

Scene

Nautically themed historic granary on the Copenhagen waterfront, with business- and group-friendly facilities

Housed in a more than 200-year-old renovated granary on the Copenhagen waterfront, the Copenhagen Admiral Hotel resembles a medieval fortress, with
its high stone walls, small windows, and peaked roof. The lobby is a vast corridor,
the original stone walls and wooden beams contrast with mid-century-style leather armchairs and
brightly colored pillows and ottomans. The nautical theme prevails throughout the hotel, with models ships displayed in the halls and even conference and event rooms adorned with antique steel canons. There are a couple of computers next
to the reception desk for guest use, although the lobby is busiest when groups and business travelers are awaiting one another for outings and events. SALT Bar and Restaurant -- popular with locals and business diners, as well as guests -- is livelier, especially on its waterfront patio, open during the warmer months.

Location

On the water, within walking distance of major sights like Nyhavn and the Royal Theatre

The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel is set back
from a quiet waterfront road that runs up along the city's harbor, just around the corner from major sights like Nyhavn canal and Amalienborg palace. The back of the building overlooks the harbor and the Copenhagen Opera
House on the other side of the water, accessible by ferry in less than five minutes. Many of the city’s sights are within walking or biking distance. Nyhavn and its many cafes and restaurants, the shopping street of Stroget,
the Royal Theatre, and nearest metro stop are all within a 10-minute walk. The airport in less than 20 minutes away by metro.

Rooms

Original wooden beams, nautical theme, somewhat dated decor

The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel's 366 rooms all have the characteristic low ceilings and original Pomeranianpine beams found throughout the hotel, as well as a traditional warehouse
layout, with a single large window at one end. The furniture is a bit old and in need of an update, but the pinewood furnishings, blue color palette, and abstract prints on the walls lend a pleasant vintage atmosphere. Some guests complain of the beds being too soft. Bathrooms are rather small and traditional, with peach-colored tiles, modern fixtures, combination shower-/tubs, and signature toiletries.
Suites are about twice the size of a double room, with a sitting area and a larger TV, but all rooms have a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, coffee- andtea-making facilities, mini-bar, safe, and hairdryer.

Features

Acclaimed bar and restaurant, free Wi-Fi, wellness center, bicycles to rent

The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel offers few free features apart from reliable
Wi-Fi throughout. The breakfast buffet, included only in some rates, is quite extensive, with hot and cold dishes, and homemade pastries and jams. The highly acclaimed SALT Bar and Restaurant -- decorated with modern furnishings to contrast with the historic ceiling and walls -- serves unique cocktails and high-quality Nordic cuisine; it also has a waterfront terrace where guests can lounge and dine in the warmer months. A small wellness center and spa has a limited menu of treatments and a sauna. Parking is available for a fee, the hotel has bicycles available to rent, there's a small business center for guests, and room service is available 24-hours a day.The hotel also has an extensive meeting and events area, with several small
and large rooms, lounges and a private dining area. The concierge team prides itself on going above and beyond to help guests arrange experiences in Copenhagen.
