Bottom Line

The NH Collection Bogota Hacienda Royal is a three-pearl hotel in a quiet upscale neighborhood surrounded by shopping and dining. Its 82 contemporary guest rooms are equipped with excellent amenities, including large wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, well-stocked minibars, Nespresso machines, and kettles, though the standard layouts are a bit cramped. All have park and mountain views, with some top floor suites adding large brick terraces. An on-site restaurant serves a mix of international and local cuisine, with a piano bar for cocktails and light bites, but there's a fee for breakfast. There's also a full spa and a fitness center. Scene

Business travelers unwind in a restaurant and bar at this relaxed hotel

The NH Collection Bogota Hacienda Royal won't turn heads for its looks, but it has a quiet, conventional atmosphere and a relaxed vibe. A corner entryway opens into a bright and airy lobby, with a two-story atrium and polished stone walls and floors. There's a frosted glass reception desk that spans one wall, with a small lounge on one side next to floor-to-ceiling windows. Across the floor, a few steps up leads into the bar and restaurant, which is the hotel's central gathering spot. The property mainly draws business travelers and extended stay guests looking for accommodations packed with amenities, who don't mind being removed from the city center.

Location

In a posh residential neighborhood, close to shopping and dining, but far from top sights

In the upscale Usaquen neighborhood, the NH Collection Bogota Hacienda Royal is surrounded by pedestrian-friendly streets, and within walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, and bars, but it's far from the city's top attractions. Many of the area's buildings have retained some of their Old-World architecture, and there's a charming center square and cobblestoned paths. The Santa Barbara business district is just a few blocks away to the west. A large shopping mall, Unicentro Bogota, is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Colonial La Candelaria, home to the famous Botero Museum and Museo del Oro, is about 30 minutes away by car. El Dorado International Airport is about a 35-minute drive depending on traffic (which can alter travel times considerably).

Rooms

Modern and well-equipped, with Nespresso machines, minibars, and iPod docks

All of the hotel’s guest rooms are contemporary and streamline, with neutral walls, high-pile textured carpeting, and dark wood furniture. It's a tight squeeze between the beds and glass-topped desks along the walls, where 42-inch flat-screen TVs are mounted. Other standard amenities include mini-fridges, minibars, coffeemakers, and iPod docks, along with free Wi-Fi. Large windows (with side panels that open) offer views of Santa Barbara park and the mountains in the distance. Bathrooms have slate floors with stone-tiled rainfall showers, while suites contain shower/tub combos with rainfall showerheads. Suites also add sofa beds, and some on upper floors have large brick terraces with potted flowers and tables. Standard rooms are 290 square feet, with double or two twin beds.

Features

On-site restaurant, full spa and gym, plus 24-hour business center, but fee for breakfast

Just like in-room amenities, this hotel offers top-notch features. The restaurant serves international and local cuisine, and a breakfast buffet for an extra fee that includes fruit, cheese and cold cuts, and pastries, tamales, and arepas de huevo, and Colombian coffee. There's an adjacent piano bar with wine, beer, and cocktails where guests can order snacks from the kitchen. For wellness, a full-service spa has several treatment rooms, and a sauna and steam room. There's also a fitness center with free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, and stationary bikes. Business facilities include four meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 100 people, and a 24-hour business corner with a pair of laptops in a comfortable lounge area in the lobby. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
