Hotel Las Americas Torre del Mar appeals to families and those seeking a beachfront location. This resort is situated in the Hotel Las Americas complex, which also includes Casa de Playa and the event center, Centro Internacional de Convenciones y Exposiciones Las Américas. With a beachfront location, the hotel takes advantage of ocean views from places like the guest rooms, rooftop pool, restaurants, and bars. Grounds are filled with bushes and tropical trees that are broken up by six swimming pools, children’s playgrounds, and outdoor activities like tennis courts. The lobby has a functional design with tiled floors, curved reception desk, chic and trendy seating areas, and interesting columns with vertical gardens. The hotel adds some color with local artwork spaced throughout. Chic elements can be found in the sleek rooftop infinity pool and the hotel’s restaurant -- which has purple and orange printed chairs, wooden tables and floors, and trendy lighting. Public spaces are generally busy, and the restaurants, beach, and pools are pretty crowded and loud with kids running around, as most visitors are families. 

Hotel Las Americas Torre del Mar has a beachfront location that’s outside of the city center of Cartagena. There are a few restaurants and bars within a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Travelers will need to book a taxi or have a car, as there’s no bus stop nearby. Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas is a 15-minute drive away, as is Iglesia de San Pedro Claver. Las Bovedas takes 17 minutes to reach by car. The International Airport of Cartagena is a seven-minute drive from the hotel. 

The rooms here are decorated in white, blue, and turquoise colors and have tropical-themed pillows and bed runners. Blond wooden furnishings are contemporary and the rooms are airy thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that lead out to furnished balconies, most of which have ocean views. Upper-level rooms have living rooms with couches. All units feature air-conditioning, minibars, flat-screen TVs, safes, and free Wi-Fi. They all lack coffee- and tea-making facilities and there have been some reports of cleanliness issues and mold in bathrooms. Bathrooms are outfitted with glass showers, hotel-brand toiletries, and hairdryers. 

The features at Hotel Las Americas Torre del Mar are focused on kids and families, with a few extra perks for parents. The beach has loungers and umbrellas, which are generally scooped up quickly. The hotel has six pools, including four waterfall pools that interconnect, two hot tubs, an adult-only rooftop pool, and a children’s pool with interactive water games. Parents can enjoy the spa's hydromassage pool, sauna, showers, salon, massages, and beauty treatments. There’s also a large gym with Lifefitness cardio and weight equipment, plus aerobics classes. Kids can spend the day with supervised activities in the kids’ club, exploring the outdoor playground shaped like a ship, or playing mini-golf, ping-pong, tennis, or in the game room. The hotel has a buffet restaurant that serves local and international cuisine. There’s also Restaurant Erre which is ran by Michelin-star chef, Ramon Freixa. A hot and cold breakfast buffet can be included in room rates, and there are half-board and all-inclusive options. Guests have reported poor food quality and overcrowding in restaurants. A lobby bar, sports bar, and rooftop pool bar provide drinks and late-night places for adults to interact. The hotel does offer some business amenities such as a business center, free Wi-Fi, and four fully-equipped meeting rooms. Pets are welcome here.
