Bottom Line

Four Points by Sheraton College Station is a solid mid-range pick and one of the closest hotels in the area to the Texas A&M University campus. A wide array of property amenities are on offer, including a seasonal outdoor pool, fitness center, and free roundtrip shuttle to the airport and to the university. There's an on-site restaurant that serves American comfort food, and it features an ample hot breakfast buffet for a fee. The hotel's 126 guest rooms are contemporary and spacious, and all come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, but they lack microwaves. The nearby all-suites Homewood Suites by Hilton College Station offers kitchen units and is pet-friendly, but it’s not quite as close to campus.

Scene

Contemporary mid-range hotel, popular with Texas A&M University families

The Four Points features a fairly attractive contemporary lobby done in vivid gold, red, and blue, with a striking geometric-print rug and comfortable upholstered furniture. Guests are generally coming and going from nearby Texas A&M University, but when they’re on-site, the restaurant, bar, and seasonal outdoor pool are popular gathering spots. There's an energetic atmosphere but the hotel is generally quiet, and it draws families in town for university activities, and some business travelers.

Location

Next to shopping and dining, about a five-minute drive from the entrance to campus

The Four Points is on Texas Avenue just east of Texas A&M University campus, situated next to a shopping center with restaurants and bars. The hotel is one of the area’s closest to campus, at about a five-minute drive to its entrance. Reed Arena is a seven-minute drive, and George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is 10 minutes by car. Post Oak Mall and the Children’s Museum of Brazos Valley are both a little more than a five-minute drive. Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is a 10-minute drive, as is the center of Bryan. Here, visitors will find shops, restaurants, bars, the Old Bryan Marketplace antiques mall, the Brazos Valley Farmer’s Market, and Greyhound bus station. Easterwood Airport is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Spacious contemporary rooms, all have mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs

The guest rooms at the Four Points have a contemporary chain-hotel look, and feature wood furniture, stainless steel desk lamps, and comfortable beds. They're done in warm colors including camel-brown and rust, with dashes of red in the curtains and desk chairs. Units are spacious, and all come with air-conditioning, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Unlike other mid-range and budget hotels in the area, the Four Points doesn’t include microwaves in its rooms, but there's a microwave in the lobby for guest use. There are no in-room safes either, although the hotel has safety deposit boxes at the front desk. The spacious bathrooms are primarily white, and all come with hairdryers and shower/tub combos with pump-dispenser toiletries.

Features

Restaurant and bar, hot breakfast buffet, seasonal outdoor pool, and fitness center

The Four Points offers a solid list of property features. Among them is a 15-meter seasonal outdoor swimming pool, and small fitness center with up-to-date cardio equipment. The restaurant is another highlight, and it serves a breakfast buffet (for a fee) featuring fresh pancakes, eggs, sausages, and a wide range of cold items. An a la carte menu is available that includes cooked-to-order eggs and omelets. The restaurant serves American comfort food for dinner, and it has a cocktail bar where there's free beer and appetizers on offer once per week. Other amenities include meeting rooms, a business center, 24-hour front desk, and free on-site parking and Wi-Fi throughout. There is no coin-op laundry room, but there are laundromats in the area. A free roundtrip shuttle (weekdays only, extended hours for Aggie football weekends) runs to the Texas A&M campus, Easterwood Airport, and other points (upon request) in the Bryan-College Station area.
