InterContinental Cleveland

Located in the heart of the world-famous Cleveland Clinic’s campus, the InterContinental attracts patients, visitors, and medical professionals, and is a regular venue for medical industry-related conferences and events. Polished marble floors and richly stained wood columns, door frames, and wall and ceiling panels create a sophisticated atmosphere, enhanced by a curve wooden front desk and a few orb-like light fixtures. Modern, designer-quality furniture is placed throughout the spacious lobby, foyers, and hallways, and an impressive modern art collection on the walls adds splashes of color to the otherwise muted decor. 

The hotel is the heart of Cleveland Clinic’s campus on the city’s East Side. It's connected to the Clinic’s facilities by an enclosed pedestrian walkway and adjacent to a large green space. There are a couple of fast food restaurants within a three- to five-minute walk from the hotel, but no other restaurants are within reasonable walking distance. The Clinic campus is safe with plenty of people walking about at all hours, but the surrounding area can feel a bit sketchy. 

It's just over a five-minute drive to University Circle and its museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, and Cleveland Museum of Art. The Clinic operates a free shuttle to and from the University Circle area that stops at the hotel. Case Western Reserve University is about four minutes away by car, and the Cleveland State University campus is a 10-minute drive. Most major downtown attractions can be reached in a drive of about 12 to 14 minutes, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Quicken Loans Arena, Progressive Field, and First Energy Stadium. A stop on the RTA Health Line that runs to downtown is a five-minute walk from the hotel entrance. Service to most downtown attractions takes 25 to 35 minutes. The Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is approximately a 25-minute drive or one hour by public transit. 

All of the InterContinental's units are businesslike and have a sleek and modern decor scheme, with white walls and white linens offset by bed runners and cushions in hues of gray or gold and grayish carpets and drapes. Furniture is modern, with long table/desk/dresser combos with office chairs and plenty of drawers and cabinet space. Minibars, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, robes, and electronic safes come standard. Rooms are generally quiet for a hotel near a busy hospital, but rooms facing the hospital might hear some noise at times. 

Bathrooms are large and luxurious, with tan marble floors and walls framing glass walk-in showers and separate tubs. The vanities are big, with black granite countertops and makeup mirrors. Hairdryers, scales, and Agraria brand toiletries are provided. 

Of the InterContinental's 295 units, 27 are suites, including 16 Corner Suites with separate living rooms with leather sofas. There are also 75 Club Rooms on the 12th and 14th floors that require private-access floor keys. Club guests receive access to the elegant club lounge that offers a free breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The lounge also has computer stations, a meeting room, and butler services. 

The hotel offers a casual cafe that serves breakfast (for a fee) and lunch plus a full-service restaurant/bar serving an international menu at lunch and dinner; the bar also offers daily happy hour specials. There's plenty of meeting space, including a 500-seat tiered amphitheater and two ballrooms. The 24-hour business center has computer stations with printers and there's free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The hotel also offers a large 24-hour fitness center is with a full range of cardio and weight-training equipment, free weights, yoga mats, and space for yoga sessions plus a dry sauna. The gift shop also sells snacks and beverages as well as sundries. Concierge services are offered, as are valet dry cleaning and laundry services for those who don't want to use the hotel's coin-operated laundry facilities. The hotel offers both valet and self-parking for the same high price, and both come with in/out privileges. Weekly parking rates are slightly lower.
