InterContinental Suites Hotel Cleveland
8800 Euclid Ave

The upper-middle-range InterContinental Suites Hotel Cleveland is located on the Cleveland Clinic campus and includes wellness touches such as allergy-free rooms with air purifiers. Its 162 rooms and suites are spacious and clean, and suites with small kitchenettes are available. Public spaces are lovely and include an outdoor courtyard. Given its location, it’s a smart choice for Clinic visitors and patients. But, rates are in the luxury range, and it’s somewhat isolated, with only a couple of fast food restaurants within walking distance. An attractive alternative is the upper-middle-range DoubleTree by Hilton The Tudor Arms Hotel. Housed in a historic building in nearby University Circle, it has better rates and a free area shuttle that includes transportation to and from the Clinic.

InterContinental Cleveland
9801 Carnegie Ave

The InterContinental Hotel Cleveland is a beautiful luxury hotel right on Cleveland Clinic’s campus. While the location is convenient for those needing easy access to the Clinic, the hotel does feel isolated, with few restaurants within walking distance, but there is a free Clinic shuttle that transports guests to University Circle. Its 295 rooms are clean and spacious, with exceptionally large and elegant marble bathrooms featuring separate walk-in showers and tubs. The hotel has a 500-seat amphitheater and large ballroom that host numerous medical meetings plus a 24-hour fitness center and two on-site restaurants. For lower room rates, travelers could check out the InterContinental Suites Hotel Cleveland, a sister property that's also located on the campus.

DoubleTree by Hilton The Tudor Arms Hotel
10660 Carnegie Ave

The upper-middle-range DoubleTree by Hilton The Tudor Arms Hotel is a lovely, circa 1933 hotel situated in Cleveland’s University Circle, near the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, and several popular museums. The hotel’s free area shuttle service also makes getting around easy. The 157 rooms are modern and distinctively decorated with ample space and comfort. While nice, bathrooms are small with no tubs, and mini-fridges and microwaves are only offered in suites. Rates are attractive, but parking and breakfast are not free. For another historic hotel nearby with free parking and breakfast but (usually) higher rates, guests could consider the Glidden House Inn.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Cleveland - Airport North
4222 W 150 St

The 116-room La Quinta Inn Cleveland Airport North is a mid-range property that offers clean and basic accommodations near the airport. The spacious rooms, which were undergoing soft renovations during our early 2017 review, have tasteful chain-hotel decor and standard amenities like coffeemakers and flat-screen TVs with premium channels. Bathrooms can feel a bit dated, though, and not all rooms include extras like mini-fridges or microwaves. Helpful freebies include on-site parking, airport shuttle service, and breakfast. The hotel also has a tiny fitness center, small convenience store, and coin-operated laundry, but there's no full-service restaurant or bar. It’s a good value overall, but other budget hotels near the airport with comparable amenities exist, including the Best Western Airport Inn & Suites Cleveland.

The Westin Cleveland Downtown
777 Saint Clair Avenue NE

The four-pearl Westin Cleveland Downtown is optimally placed within walking distance of professional sports stadiums, a mall, the Cleveland Convention Center, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Its 484 stylish rooms have floral embellishments, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs, though in-room Wi-Fi costs a fee, and there's limited storage space. Decorated in a tasteful blend of rustic elegance and warehouse chic, the large hotel has a full roster of features including an on-site steakhouse, Starbucks, and in-room spa services. Notable business features such as meeting spaces with views of Lake Erie and a 24-hour business center appeal to business travelers. And this Westin claims to have the largest hotel fitness center in Cleveland. Just a few minutes’ walk away, Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center offers an alternative with a pool and cheaper parking.

Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade
420 Superior Ave E

Housed inside one of the nation’s first indoor shopping centers, the upper-middle-range Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade features gorgeous Victorian-style architecture and a majestic, massive skylight ceiling. Its 293 rooms vary in size and decor, and while renovated rooms are sleek and stylish, un-renovated ones appear tired and dated. On-site features include a spa, a modern fitness center, and extensive event space, as well as a restaurant, lounge, and coffee bar. While competitively priced for a downtown property, travelers might want to compare rates with the nearby Holiday Inn Express Cleveland Downtown, which offers exceptionally large rooms in a historic building.

Glidden House
1901 Ford Dr

The upper-middle-range Glidden House Inn offers a memorable stay for travelers who appreciate historic hotels. The former home of the Glidden Paint family, the 1910 mansion is located on Case Western Reserve University’s campus near several museums and the Cleveland Clinic. Free parking, free breakfast, and a fine-dining restaurant are attractive amenities. Its 60 guest rooms include eight unique suites, but standard rooms, while tastefully decorated, are a bit small and dark and, unlike suites, don’t offer mini-fridges. Rates are reasonable, but another nearby historic hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton The Tudor Arms Hotel, typically offers better rates.

Holiday Inn Express Cleveland Downtown
629 Euclid Ave

There’s much to like about the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Cleveland. The value property occupies a historic building in the city’s entertainment district, surrounded by restaurants and within a reasonable walk to many top attractions. Its 141 rooms are exceptionally spacious with 13-foot ceilings and original hardwood floors. And rates are very reasonable and include a free hot breakfast and evening drinks reception. But, there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, and the hotel can get noisy on weekends when it fills up with sports fans and partiers. Another downtown option with more fashion-forward decor would be the mid-range Aloft Cleveland Downtown.

Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland Downtown
1100 Carnegie Ave

The mid-range Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland Downtown offers an unbeatable location for sports fans attending games at Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena. Its attached conference center also attracts many business travelers, and its free shuttle service to downtown and the Cleveland Clinic adds more visitors to the mix. It’s not in the heart of downtown, but several restaurants are within a short walk. Rooms are spacious and include mini-fridges, microwaves, and Keurig coffeemakers. Travelers seeking a more central location might want to consider the Holiday Inn Express Cleveland Downtown, which is in a historic building in the heart of the city’s entertainment district.

Aloft Cleveland Downtown
1111 W 10th St

The three-pearl Aloft Cleveland Downtown is a stylish hotel in the Warehouse District on the outskirts of the downtown neighborhood. It's a bit removed from attractions, but a free shuttle can take guests within a five-mile radius. And the hotel has a scene of its own, with a hip, popular nightclub that has DJs spinning on the weekend. Plus adjoining upscale restaurants and a gourmet snack station give lots of dining options. Its 150 guest rooms continue the modern look with streamlined blond-wood furnishings. But some guests find the lack of drawers in rooms and ambient noise from passing trains and the nightclub unappealing. It’s fairly priced, but more spacious rooms at better rates are available downtown at the lower-middle-range Holiday Inn Express Cleveland Downtown, which lacks a restaurant though offers free breakfast and evening drinks.
