Hotel Panorama

Hotel Panorama is situated right along the road in a three-story square building with a yellow facade with green shutters, wrought-iron balconies, and a terra-cotta roof. Originally constructed in the 18th century, the property was renovated in 2000. The lobby offers a charming, if somewhat dated, ambience with a white-and-brown checkered floor, yellow walls, and white molding. The dark-wood reception desk pairs well with wood doors and cabinets. Couches and armchairs are upholstered in silky green fabric finished with gold piping and bottom fringe. The bar follows suit, with a similar look, but adds Murano glass chandeliers. The real lounge spot here is the second-story terrace, which features yellow-patterned tables, green chairs, and benches, plus, the reason for the hotel's name --  a panoramic view of the water with Venice in the background. The hotel draws mainly tourists looking to stay outside busy central Venice. 

The Hotel Panorama is situated on the famous beach island of Lido, right along the main road that runs parallel to the sea with many restaurants and shopping spots in easy walking distance. A 10-minute walk across the island will take guests to the beach, and the Palazzo del Cinema at Venice, the main viewing theater for the Venice Film Festival, is about a 20-minute walk away. The hotel is a two-minute walk to the island's ferry terminal, where boats travel to the heart of historic Venice in about 15-minutes. The hotel is a good choice for travelers looking for a quiet spot beyond the hustle-and-bustle of tourist-heavy Venice, but who still want its main attractions within easy reach. Sights like Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and Basilica dei Frari are 25 to 35 minutes away. Marco Polo Airport is a little more than an hour's trip from the hotel via water taxi. The hotel has offers free boat trips to the Murano glass factory. Cars are allowed on Lido, but require a ferry trip from the mainland. Limited free on-site parking is available.

Hotel Panorama has 22 traditionally styled rooms, which look a bit old-fashioned. Room categories include Standard Rooms, Superior Rooms, Deluxe Attic Rooms (for three to four guests), and a Junior Suite. Rooms are well-maintained if somewhat dated, with yellow wallpaper finished with a border, patterned wall-to-wall carpeting, dark-wood furniture, and green-and-yellow-striped bedding. Some rooms are more up to date, with natural wood floors and white bedding, though the Impressionist prints with thin, gold frames feel a bit chintzy. All rooms feature Murano glass lights. Attic rooms have exposed wood beams. Bathrooms can be small, but they're modern with checkered floors, bidets, heated towel racks, and shower stalls. They're outfitted with hairdryers and toiletries.

Rooms are air-conditioned and include desks, small flat-screen TVs, safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. There are no coffee- or tea-making facilities. Upgraded rooms may include sofa beds, whirlpool baths, and some have terraces. Guests recommend choosing a room that faces the laguna and Venice, but since these rooms face the street, they can be noisy when the windows are opened.

The hotel includes a continental breakfast in the room rate. In the summer, it's served on a second-story terrace with views of Venice across the water. In the winter, breakfast is served in a charming room with a checkered floor, which also doubles as the bar. Guests can also have their drinks outside on the terrace in good weather. 

The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and the staff will help with restaurant recommendations, tours, and tickets, laundry and dry cleaning service, or babysitting. Limited on-site parking is available at no extra charge, and there's free water taxi service to the Murano glass factory. The hotel also offers a computer in the lobby for guests' use and free Wi-Fi.
