Scene
Charming, simple guesthouse with relaxed vibe, most popular with couples
As the name suggests, this charming little guest house is situated right next to a chedi, which towers over the four-story building. Guests are greeted with a refreshing beverage as they check in. The lobby is a welcoming space, if a bit quirky, with plants and flowers all around and floral motifs on the ceiling. Fans cool the open space, which is popular as a hang-out spot among guests. This is also where breakfast is served, with the pool adjacent. Racks and tables hold travel brochures, and a refrigerator is stocked with beer and soft drinks. The ambience is peaceful, relaxed, and friendly, making this property popular with couples from all over the world. Some families and solo travelers pass through as well.
Location
Quiet area just northeast of Old City, close to shops, cafes, and temples
This little guest house is situated in a quiet, safe area just to the northeast of the historic Old City. The immediate neighborhood has a local feel and is filled with a few other hotels plus cafes, restaurants, massage shops, and other tourist-oriented services. Chiang Mai's famed night markets are within an easy walking distance, and the Phae Gate and the ornate Wat Chiang Man temple can both be reached in eight minutes on foot. A number of other temples also are within a 15- to 20-minute walk, or guests can use the hotel bicycles for free. Tuk-tuks and taxis also are easily accessible for those who prefer not to walk, and trendy Nimmanhaemin Road is a 12-minute taxi ride from the hotel. Plan on 20 minutes to reach Chiang Mai International Airport by car.
Rooms
Simple rooms with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges, some with terraces or balconies
Rooms are offered as Standard and larger Superiors. All are lovely and modern, with tiled floors, dark wood furniture, white bed linens, gold accents on pillows, and colorful Thai murals over the bed. We did find it odd that in some rooms we visited the ornate gold lamps still had plastic wrapping on the shades -- as if lifted right from an Old-World grandma's house. Flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall. Other amenities include air-conditioning, mini-fridges stocked with free bottled water, kettles for tea and coffee, and free Wi-Fi. Compact wet-room bathrooms feature showers, towel warmers, magnifying mirrors, slippers, and toiletries in large eco-friendly bottles. Standard rooms face the back of the property, while Superior rooms have views of the chedi. Some rooms have a balcony or terrace. One child younger than 5 stays free in rooms with an adult using an existing bed.
