BED Phrasingh

BED Phrasingh (Adults Only) opened in 2015 and has a fresh, modern design. It's one of four BED hotels within Chiang Mai, and all are identically styled with monochrome color schemes and minimalist decor. The building is fairly small and is covered in lush tropical greenery, making it feel miles away from the busy city streets nearby. Interiors are light and airy, with plenty of seating areas for taking a break. There are soft leather couches illuminated by Edison bulbs, plus wood-topped benches looking out onto the pool. Though small, the pool is a great place to cool off and kick back after a busy day exploring the city. The hotel is a child-free zone (no one under 18 is allowed) and has a relaxed atmosphere, mostly attracting young couples or small groups.

The hotel is situated down a quiet alleyway in the center of the Old City. It's an ideal choice for anyone exploring Chiang Mai on foot, as it's within walking distance of numerous shops, bars, restaurants, and attractions. The city's most famous temple, Wat Phra Singh, is just a two-minute walk from the hotel, while the popular Sunday Walking Market -- with clothing and food stalls -- is less than a 10-minute walk away. Those heading farther afield can get around by taxi, tuk-tuk, or by one of the hotel's free rented bikes. Budget around 10 minutes to reach either the night market or trendy Nimmanhaemin Road by car. Chiang Mai International Airport is also about a 10-minute drive away, depending on traffic.

Like the rest of the hotel, all 29 rooms have a modern, minimalist design. They're identically decorated with dark tiled floors, white walls, and crisp white bedding. Each room has a small work desk with a modern curved chair, plus a metal rail with hangers for clothes. Sliding glass doors open out onto small furnished balconies, some with lovely views of the gardens below. Standard in-room amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, phones, safes, free Wi-Fi, and minibars with free sodas and bottled water -- but there are no electric kettles. Small white-tiled bathrooms are more like wet rooms, equipped with showers, pump toiletries, hairdryers, and free amenities like shower caps and toothbrushes. Although the hotel has a quiet location, some guests have reported poor soundproofing and audible noise from other guests.

BED Phrasingh (Adults Only) offers modern facilities that are geared toward short-stay travelers. There's no full restaurant, but a free breakfast buffet is served every morning at lobby level. It gets excellent reviews from guests, with plentiful hot and cold options and a mix of Western and Asian cuisines. Guests can help themselves to free tea or coffee, refreshments, and cold water bottled water all day long. There's also a pool for cooling off, though it's small and has limited sun loungers.
