Bottom Line

The Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga/Hamilton Place is a refreshingly stylish, lower-middle-range chain hotel built in 2013. The 134-room property caters to a variety of travelers, and offers an indoor pool, a spacious gym, and free hot breakfast buffet. Small guest rooms have comfy beds, microwaves, and mini-fridges, and the property's hilltop setting provides nice views from some rooms. Located 15 minutes from downtown, the hotel may be less convenient for business travelers, though the airport is just four miles away, and Hamilton Place Mall is a quick walk down the road. For those with a bit more money to spend, the Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga Downtown has a better downtown location.

Scene

Artistic and colorful

Situated in a
six-floor building atop a hill, this Hampton Inn may be among the most beautiful of any in the chain. Interiors are fresh and modern, as the property was built in 2013. Clean-lined chandeliers line the
entryway, giving way to a bright, artistically furnished lobby with a variety of seats: white
leather lounge chairs and benches, a round table with rolling office chairs, chrome and glass side tables, and paisley-patterned area rugs in heather-gray and red. The breakfast area
more closely resembles a classy bar (but there isn’t a bar), with its huge, circular chandelier affixed with drippy strands. The various high and low tables nicely combine wood, leather, and patterned cushions in shades of red and gray, all surrounding a large
HDTV on one wall. There is
a small outdoor patio with a wood roof, elegant gray tile floors, and stylish white patio furniture, including couches around a gas fireplace. The crowd is a mix of families, other tourists, and business travelers.

Location

A 15-minute drive from downtown, near a mall and the airport

The hotel sits
just off of Interstate 75 on a hill between Hamilton Place Mall and a movie
theater. Restaurants Big River Grille and Sticky Fingers are within
a five-minute walk, as is the enormous Hamilton Place Mall. Lookout Mountain is
just over 20 minutes away by car. Downtown Chattanooga and all of its
attractions, including the university, aquarium, and Riverwalk, are about a 15-minute
drive from the hotel. Chattanooga Airport is five to 10 minutes away by car.

Rooms

Smaller than some others in the chain, but fresh and colorful

Although rooms,
like the rest of this hotel, are clean, new, and colorful, they are a little
small compared to some other Hampton Inns. Windows are compact, although some offer nice views of the surrounding landscape. There are framed prints of soothing floral paintings on the walls, and maroon and bright yellow accents amid the otherwise ecru and cream decor. Beds are super comfortable, and
each room has an office desk and armchair, as well as free Wi-Fi, an HDTV, a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. Bathrooms are bright with white
countertops and either shower/tub combos or large, standing showers with glass doors. The studio-style suites are only
slightly larger than standard rooms. Each has an extra
window and a sofa bed separated from the main bed by a large desk, as well as a wall-mounted TV that's difficult to see from bed.

Features

Free Wi-Fi, parking, and breakfast, as well as a pool and fitness center

This 2013-built Hampton
Inn offers all the usual amenities of the chain – free outdoor parking, free
Wi-Fi access, and a free hot buffet breakfast including a waffle station. To-go breakfast is also offered. There is also a somewhat small, though attractive, indoor pool. The fitness center has top-line equipment and a nice amount of space. There are three meeting rooms, and a 24-hour business center with two computers, and printing and copying services. The hotel has a coin-operated laundry area. Pets are not allowed.
