Pros
- Convenient location in Meyers Park near restaurants and shops
- Elegant boutique hotel housed in an authentic southern mansion
- Individually furnished rooms with ample space and comfy bedding
- 4 acres of beautiful grounds, including children's garden
- Delicious made-to-order breakfast
- Free Wi-Fi in rooms
- Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operated as a nonprofit
Cons
- Some common areas look more dated than they do antique
- Only one queen- or king-size bed per room; no doubles
- Small, sparse fitness center
- No pool
Bottom Line
The Duke Mansion, a quaint 20-room bed and breakfast, is a decidedly regal southern experience -- as you'd expect from an authentic southern mansion. The rooms are elegant and individually furnished with original artwork housed in ornate frames, oak furniture, and large porches. Unlike other historic hotels, the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious and modern, the ceilings are high, and there's a working elevator. The mansion's location in the upscale Myers Park neighborhood is also a plus, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. There's no pool, though, and rooms only feature either a single queen or king bed (no doubles), so it's not ideal for families.

Location
On the northern edge of Myers Park, an affluent neighborhood south of Uptown Charlotte
The Duke Mansion is located in Myers Park, about a 10-minute drive south of Uptown Charlotte. Myers Park is one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Charlotte, where tree-lined streets are dotted with beautiful homes, small boutiques, cafes, and the odd chain restaurant or two. The area is notably safe and almost entirely residential, so visitors usually keep active with running, biking, and golfing. Just beware if you're looking to be in the heart of the action: Besides being home to a few universities, churches, and a historic movie theater, there is little to do in the area, especially at night.
