Overview

Pros
  • Located in charming historic Dilworth, minutes from Uptown

  • Authentic Southern mansion with intimate service

  • Pedestrian-friendly area good for jogging, walking, and biking

  • Bicycle rental available

  • Free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, and free coffee/tea in the parlor

  • Pets allowed for a fee

Cons
  • Tight bathrooms and small TVs in rooms (some are tube TVs)

  • Some rooms have thin walls with higher noise levels

  • Some rooms have slightly worn furniture and dated decor

  • Rooms can be hard to keep warm in cold weather

Bottom Line

This Colonial revival house located in an historic neighborhood is charming and romantic. Even though all rooms at the inn differ, they each have something to offer: The Cleveland Suite sports a comfy four-poster bed, and the Solarium Suite is roomy with plenty of natural light. But some rooms feature tube TVs, and the bathrooms -- while clean, with some updated fixtures -- are a bit cramped and generally dated. Furniture and decor can look a little worn at times, and there's no pool, but overall, the large porch overlooking pretty grounds and the southern hospitality help give the place the feel of a grand manor. The nearby Duke Mansion is comparably priced and a bit higher-end, however, though it's a bit farther from Uptown Charlotte.

Location

In historic Dilworth, minutes away from Uptown Charlotte

The Morehead Inn is located in historic Dilworth, a safe, upscale neighborhood just south of Uptown Charlotte. Designed and developed as a streetcar suburb in the late 1890s, Dilworth has maintained its reputation as one of Charlotte's most charming neighborhoods for more than a century. The area is mostly residential with oak tree-lined streets, small restaurants, shops, and restored historical homes. The neighborhood is a draw thanks to its safe reputation, stately ambiance, and convenient proximity to Uptown Charlotte.- 16-minute drive to Charlotte Douglas International Airport
