City is a mid-range hotel in busy uptown Charlotte. Contemporary rooms feature fridges (mini or full-size), iPod
docks, coffeemakers, and microwaves, and the updated bathrooms have
beautiful granite countertops. The free hot breakfast gets excellent reviews, as does the H Bar, which serves small
plates and cocktails. Many of the hotel's features are open around the clock, including the fitness center, the business center, and the on-site minimart, and free Wi-Fi runs throughout the
property. There is a nice rooftop pool accompanied by a fireplace and seating,
but it’s tiny. Only valet parking is available at this hotel and it has an
expensive daily fee.
Scene
A modern and sleek hotel with a welcoming atmosphere
The large and modern Hyatt House
Charlotte Center City caters to tourists and business travelers, and is particularly suitable to long-term guests who want to do some cooking in their rooms. The lobby has lots of natural light
thanks to large windows, and there are purple couches with green pillows along with colorful artwork, contemporary light fixtures, and black
patterned carpeting. Free newspapers are provided as well. The hotel bar, H Bar, has concrete floors,
several flat-screen TVs, and a black bar with high white leather chairs. The bar sits adjacent to a purple and black
breakfast area, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and
potted plants.

Rooms
Comfortable and stylish rooms, some with full kitchens
The Hyatt offers a variety of rooms and suites, including One-Bedroom Suites with sofa beds in the living rooms. The vibe is subdued and modern, with a lot of black and grays brightened up with multicolored artwork and lamps and purple accent walls. Beds have reading lamps built into the
headboards and bedside tables with iPod docks. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, microwaves, coffeemakers, and fridges, while some have kitchens
featuring lovely granite countertops with dark wood cabinets and floors. Stylish bathrooms offer black-and-gray
speckled granite countertops, white tile floors, walk-in showers, lighted makeup mirrors, hairdryers, and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. Rooms are in good shape and get decent reviews overall, but there have been some complaints of exterior noise.
Features
Exceptional free hot breakfast and on-site bar in addition to several 24/7 perks
The free hot breakfast (Morning Spread) includes made-to-order omelets, French toast, Starbucks coffee, fruit, bacon, oatmeal, and juice. Gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, pizzas, soups, salads, and
cocktails are available at H Bar, which also has room service during limited hours. Other on-site features include a 24-hour business center with computers and printers and a minimart -- also open 24/7 -- with sandwiches, grocery items, and toiletries. The
contemporary fitness center is also open around the clock and has cardio machines with TVs,
weight machines, medicine balls, and free weights. There's also a tiny outdoor rooftop
pool with a fireplace and black chair. Features particularly suited for longer term guests include coin-operated laundry
facilities and a grocery shopping service. The only option for on-site parking is valet service, and it's expensive.
